Forever Genie? - Part 4C (Goddess, Humanity, Maid) by hippo2 Forever Genie? - Part 4C (Goddess, Humanity, Maid) by hippo2
Martha was sitting inside her lamp and prepared herself to go out with Amelia. But her thoughts wandered to what she had learned from Frida recently: Apparently, it was possible to protect the mind of a transformed human from adapting to the new form. By adding such a protection, it would be possible to turn a victim back into the person he or she was. But for Martha's victims, this was a mere academic. To none of them, she had added a protection for their minds. All of their minds must have adapted already. The case of Sylvia has shown this. Sylvia was at least human again, thanks to a wish by her friend Amelia. But Amelia had shown a very kinky side with her wish. An thus, a new person was created from the palm; that of a genuine French Maid.
Martha didn't approve with Amelia's choice, especially after what she had learned. But it was too late to lament about the situation now: Any try to transform the newly made maid into the original Sylvia would mean to mess with the maid's mind. Since such a kind of magic was forbidden to genies, Martha decided not to do it.
Martha felt really depressed now. What where her genie powers good for if she couldn't save any of her victims? Maybe should stop using her powers at all? But of course, Martha was still a slave to the lamp and forced to grant the wishes of her masters. Eventually, Martha decided to push these thoughts away and finished her preparations for her appointment.

Martha met Amelia in their favorite cafe.

"Is everything ok?" Amelia greeted her friend. Obviously, Martha sorrows were written in her face.

"I was about to ask you the same." Martha replied, since Amelia was looking worried too.

"Honestly, I have some difficulties with David." Amelia admitted.

"Difficulties? What happened?"

" When you were locked away inside your lamp, David invited me for diner. I think he was about to ask me to marry him. So I confessed to him that I was born as mouse. He didn't take it too well. He didn't ask for my hand in marriage. And since this event, he's very reserved towards me."

"Oh... I didn't know that... Shall I help getting him back?" Martha asked.

"Ok, as long as you don't use your magic." Amelia replied. "If you use your magic and David finds out, he'll be even more angry."

"Don't worry, I won't use my magic to make him love you again. I wouldn't be allowed to anyway." Martha relied.

"Ok, then I'm relieved." Amelia said. "So what's you plan, Martha?"

"We could go on a day trip to a near wildlife park. All three of us. So David won't be suspicious. I hope this trip will bring David closer to you again. And I can use the opportunity to talk to him. How about we go there next weekend?"

"Sounds like a plan!" Amelia replied. "So, what's buggering you, Martha?"

Martha thought for a moment to tell Amelia about what she had found out from Frida. But then, she decided against it. "It's nothing compared to your troubles." Martha said.

"Are you sure?" Amelia asked. Martha nodded. "Very well, then." Amelia finished this part of the conversation.

Martha watched the weather forecast with great dismay. All of the month had been very wet and much colder than was usual for the season. And the forecast for the next two days confirmed Martha's biggest fears: Constant rainfall and cold temperature were predicted for the weekend. This was bad news. With rainy weather, the trip to the wildlife park had to be cancelled. Unless...
Martha thought for a moment: She knew her powers were limited unless she granted a wish. And nor Amelia nor David would most likely use a wish to ensure good weather. But Martha was a quite experienced genie now. Maybe she could manage to improve the weather if only for the next day and the region of the wildlife park.
Martha slipped out of her lamp and watched the dark clouds. She concentrated hard and crossed her arms. Then she blinked. Her magic reached out to the air above and formed a small spot of high pressure that would expand over night. This spot was supposed to push away the rain clouds, at least for the next day. When the magic was done, Martha felt not only exhausted, but hat a terrible headache. "Maybe I went too far this time?" she thought. Quickly, she rushed back into her lamp to get some sleep.

The next morning began with sunshine. Martha was happy her magic had worked and prepared for the trip to the wildlife park. Out of some nostalgic feeling, she changed her clothes into the yellow t-shirt, green short skirt and green Mary-Janes she had worn when she was turned into a genie. About an hour later, she was on her way with Amelia an David.

The wildlife park was a great experience. Amelia, Martha and David saw many local animals, like deer, hawks but also squirrels and other small animals. For Martha, it was the first time she came close to European fauna. And for Amelia, it was a strange experience, since it reminded her a lot about her former life as a mouse.
Martha had just found a young deer that came playfully closer. Suddenly, Martha had an idea. She blinked and a carrot appeared in her hand. She fed the carrot to the deer, but the dear wanted more. The deer got closer and began to nudge Martha's belly. Somehow, the t-shirt got loose and the dear began to tickle Martha's bellybutton.
Suddenly, Amelia was running along in sheer terror. She rushed towards David, embracing him to seek protection.

David was surprised first, but quickly, he closed Amelia in his arms. "What happened, Amelia?"

"There was a lynx. When I saw it, I panicked and run away. I'm such a coward..." Amelia said.

"Don't worry, Amelia. Mice are flight animals, and that instinct is still inside of you."

"Thank you, David." Amelia whispered.

David was about to ask Amelia for forgiveness for his reaction when she told him about her past, when suddenly thunder was rolling over the sky. Out of the blue, a downpour drenched the land. Martha, Amelia and David ran for shelter in a nearby refuge hut. Meanwhile, the wood around the hut had virtually disappeared behind a veil of heavy rain. The three had no other choice but to wait for the rain to end.

"Didn't the weather forecast say this morning that the weather will be fine?" Amelia asked.

"It seems they were wrong ... again." Martha said. "Maybe freaky weather?"

"Something's not right here." David said. "Yesterday, the forecast predicted rain for all of today. This morning, the weather wondrously improves. And now all the rain is coming down at once. Amelia, Martha, do you have something to do with it? Maybe a wish gone wrong?"

A flash illuminated the scenery. Amelia's reaction was very indignant. "Definitely not! I didn't make such a wish. I even asked Martha NOT to use her magic to improve the weather."

Martha felt that it was necessary to put things right: "Amelia says the truth. She asked me not to us my magic, but I did it anyway." Thunder rolled over the land. "Yesterday evening, I summoned all my magic power to manipulate the weather. You know that I can use my power for myself on a limited scale. I had hoped I was strong enough to give us a sunny day. It seems I was not powerful enough."

"Great work, Martha!" Amelia scolded her friend. "I trusted you on that. And what were you doing? You broke your word and used your magic."

A flash was followed by instant thunder. Amelia cringed. David put his arm around her. "It's getting worse and worse." Amelia snuggled against David. "Yesterday, the forecast didn't talk about such a heavy rain.

"You mean my manipulation of the weather has caused this storm?" Martha asked.

"Could be... Maybe the good weather you created has kind of piled up all the rain clouds." David argued.

At these words, Martha felt really bad. She sunk to the bottom of the hut. Amelia seeing this looked at David, put on a disapproving face and shook her head.

"But then, I don't know much about meteorology and even less about weather magic." David tried to ease the situation.

Martha didn't really listen to David. Inside, she felt that David was right. Her foolish attempt to improve the weather has made the situation even worse. She wanted to return into her lamp now, but because of the storm, she had to wait. So, Martha curled up in one edge of the hut and waited for the storm to end.

Later that evening, Martha was sitting in her lamp. She was watching the news about rain that had hit the region today with devastating results. In several towns, cellars had been flooded. Several roads had been blocked by debris avalanches. A family traveling in their car was missing. Martha had enough. She turned out the news. Then she burst into tears.

"I didn't want that. All I want was bringing Amelia and David together again. And now, I've caused so much pain. I really wish I'd never become a genie." she cried.

Somethings you just shouldn't mess with Martha.

Yes, that's the tragedy of this story: She had best intentions but in the end, she ended in the worst of all worlds.

Martha had to learn that nature can not be control no matter what. Her heart was pure, she had a noble idea to help the people she loves but she tried to make a mountain out of a mole hill but her friends knew of her pure intentions.
