"May I sit down and talk to you?"
"Sure!" Frida sat up too and offered Martha a place on the edge of the bed. "What do you want to talk about?"
Martha sat down and took a look on the book. "Leaving Las Vegas? I'm not sure this is the right book for six year old girl."
"I turned seven two months ago." Frida protested.
"Or are you rather still twenty-something inside? Your literature strongly suggests this."
Frida turned red as if she was caught doing something forbidden. "That's... that's not what you want to talk about, right?"
"It is somewhat related. I want to know how you are coping with your new life."
Frida smiled happily. "Martha, I'm really happy with my situation here. You should know that my original family is rather poor. I couldn't go to a good school and my job as secretary hat its flaws too." The little girl gave Martha a questioning look.
The genie nodded. "Go on please."
"Many managers see their secretaries as a low lifeform. Or worse, as a piece of ass for their own pleasure. I had several immoral offers. And even if Luca wasn't among these pigs, he often enough treated me in a snotty way."
Martha was about to defend her brother, but then she remembered how he showed off with his success at work, especially when her family talked about Martha's plans for the future. She decided to let Frida continue her story.
"Then, you and Luca gave me a second chance. I can go to that very good school in Switzerland. And Luca... Papa treats me as if I was his real daughter. So, I've decided to use this chance. I'll enjoy my second childhood and I will study really hard, so I will get a good graduation in a few years."
Martha felt in a fix. She had the feeling that Frida was honest with what she said. This wasn't the sneaky secretary anymore, that was sitting next to her. This girl had really developed a thankful adherence to Luca. And now, she would have to tell Frida about Luca's suspicion. This would surely hurt the little girl a lot. But it couldn't be helped. "Luca sends me here. He suspects that you still have your adult mind."
"Merda!" Frida sweared. Then she had a panicked expression on her face. "Will he send me away now?" she asked fearfully. "Please don't let him do this. I love being in his daughter." Martha felt bad, as Frida was breathing faster and faster. "Martha, don't let him do this! I swear, all I want is to grow up a his daughter. If he wants to sent me away, can you make me into his real daughter, please?"
For a moment, Martha felt tempted to grant that wish. Luca and Frida both asked for that wish. And if any other human master would have made that wish, Martha would have granted it without a care. But this was different. Luca was her brother and Frida her niece. This was a matter of her family."Calm down Frida. I believe you. And I won't let Luca sent you away. But I won't grant your wish either."
"Why?!?" Tears start to run down Frida's face.
Martha blinked and a paper tissue appeared in her hand. She passed it to Frida. "Frida, you and Luca have to learn to trust each other. I can't solve this task for you with a wish. Besides, it would completely erase the person you had been."
"I guess you are right. This is my penance for what I did to Luca. I will always remember who I was and what I did, but from now on, I will be Frida dos Santos, sempiterna."
Martha put her arm around her niece's shoulder. "I'm so glad to hear that. And I like having you as my niece. Shall we go to Luca and convince him too?
Frida was cleaning her face. "Yes, I'd love to do that."
A few minutes later, Martha and Frida were back to Luca in the living room. "Hello Martha, hello Frida." Luca greeted them with a cold voice.
"Luca... Papa..." Frida began. "I want to apologize. It is true that I didn't lose my original mind. I remember all my past life, including what I did to you. And I didn't tell you." At these words Luca turned away from Frida. Quickly Frida added: "I understand that you are angry about me, but please let me explain why I didn't tell you. You see, I'm so happy that you adopted me into your family. And I'm really grateful for the love and support you gave me. Meanwhile, I see you as my father and I see myself as your daughter too. I know that I did terrible things to you, but I want to make up for this."
"And how will you do that, if you are still the scheming, evil Frida inside?" Luca asked.
Frida was close to tears, so Martha intervened. "Luca! That's not fair. Give her at least a chance to explain!" She rose to her full height and used her genie magic to appear even more intimidating. To Luca, Martha appeared with a dark, menacing aura.
Luca shied away and Frida, after a warm smile from Martha, found the strenght to continue. "I'll make up for what I did by being the best daughter you can wish for. You are my father and I want to make you proud. I promise, I will work hard to get excellent marks at school. And I promise that from now on, I'll behave like a normal, seven year old girl...
"Stop it!" Luca interfered. "You don't have to deny yourself to make me happy. But how can I trust you?"
Frida took all her strength: "I'm already trusting you. Since you adopted me, I'm dependent on you. And if you chase me away now, I might end up in an orphanage, but I would still be stuck in my seven years old body. Unless Martha turns me back then..."
"Which I don't want to do." Martha declared. "Frida makes a good point here: You have an enormous power over her now, just as you did when you were her boss. Still she trusts you, despite the fact that you didn't always treat her correctly, when she was still your secretary." Luca looked to the floor, seemingly ashamed.
Martha continued. "We decided to turn Frida into a little girl, so she can change her ways. And I think she did that already. Now it's to you to accept the change. The past is the past, but both of you can have a future as a family. I, for my part, trust Frida."
Luca put a smile on her face. He embraced his daughter. "I'll trust you too, Frida." Frida was hugging him back.
"How about we do something together as a family?" Martha proposed. She blinked and five tickets appeared in her hands.
"What's this?" Frida asked.
"These are Tickets for the opening game of the Football World Cup on Thursday. Do you want to go there with me?"
that I read them in record time (late at night too ) so your stories all had a good pace ^^.
It took me very long to draw the last panel: The statium, all persons, quite a lot.
