STUFF I LIKE:
- Those colors! Nothing says "winter" like shades of white and blue, and you chose the perfect ones to use here. You made a smart move of mixing a touch of purple into the snow, giving the picture a real sense of depth.

STUFF THAT COULD USE A LITTLE WORK:
- The definition. A large part of the picture looks very, very blurry. While this works great for some parts - it makes the snowflakes look soft and almost magical - it makes other parts difficult to make out, especially the background. While making things in the distance blurrier can help add depth, it's a bit severe here compared to how close everything is to the foreground. With your good sense of color, I think you can afford to make solid backgrounds without losing too much of that "distant" feeling.

STUFF I LIKE:
- The pose and expression. Very cute, and clearly communicates the character's personality. Even though I'm not familiar with them, I feel like I have a good sense of what they're like.
- The colors. The dull pastel gives off a light, gentle feeling, but it's not so light it looks washed out or so grey it looks dull.

STUFF THAT COULD USE A LITTLE WORK:
- The anatomy. Some parts of the body look a little truncated. The top of the skull is very flat compared to the overall shape of the face, and the arms look like they're stuck directly to the torso. Try sketching out the basic shape of the body before drawing the lineart, to make sure you've got enough room for all the standard parts of the body.

STUFF I LOVE:
- The composition. It's simple, but well-centered. The immediate focus is on the face (especially the eyes), but there's enough space left below that for the viewer to linger on. It brings to mind a teaser poster for a cool fantasy movie.
- The flow of the hair. Deciding where to draw the strands and how to shade hair can be tricky, sometimes resulting in a stiff or blocky look, but here it's well-done. It looks loose and a bit messy, just right for a creature that spends its time in the forest.

STUFF THAT COULD USE A LITTLE WORK:
- Definition of the facial features. The top and bottom of the eyes look a bit squared-off, and the lashes look like clumps in the corner rather than hair lining the edges. The outline on the bottom of the nose is also a bit prominent compared to the otherwise subtle shading - in thumbnail view, I briefly thought it was a small mouth.
- The shading. The shaded parts of the hair could probably afford to be a little darker (though as mentioned above, I feel the placement is great.) The shadows on the face seem kind of jagged, giving the face a "carved wood" look. If you're trying to emphasize the forest aspect of the character, that's a nifty way to do it, but if you're aiming for a normal skin effect, try smoothing out the edges and practice putting shadows over curved surfaces.
Dryad
Sure thing! I like being helpful in whatever small ways I can. :]

And yeah, shading is definitely a big ol' bug to work out, especially when trying new things. I've been drawing for years and I still seem to get a new shading style every few months!
