She paused, trying to catch her breath. Mist swirled in the perpetual purple twilight, concealing the demonic forms she knew were waiting for her, just out of range. She was tired, but that was nothing new. Her lips curled in a bitter smile as she recalled the line of a song she had heard the last time she had been reborn. “No rest for the wicked . . . or the weary,” she murmured, tightening her grip on the spear. A creature appeared out of the mist. She tensed, but then relaxed when she recognized the winged form. “They are coming, Mistress,” a soft voice said. Grimacing, she stood and walked over to stand beside her companion. The demons drew closer, their bodies still just red-eyed silhouettes in the gloom. “Time to duel,” she whispered.

--- excerpt from Chapter 1 of "I Am Your Faithful Servant"

This is Rashida, my FC from my Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters fanfic "I Am Your Faithful Servant" (not yet posted on

Age: 16
Height: 5' 4"
Occupation: Tamer, servant and personal guard of the Pharaoh Atem
Likes: sparring, most Monsters, serving Atem
Dislikes: priests and magicians, fire, enclosed spaces, injustice
Personality: serious, focused, dedicated, completely loyal to Atem, suspicious of outsiders and priests, doesn’t have much of a sense of humor
Love interest: Atem

Rashida is a Tamer, a rare kind of person who can summon and control monsters without stone tablets, a DiaDhank, or being possessed. Her favorite and most loyal monster is "Wingweaver." Because of her rare ability, Rashida was taken prisoner by priests until Atem released her. They became close friends and she swore loyalty to him. But when Zorc attacked, they were separated in the most painful way possible. Through various complicated and painful circumstances, Rashida was forced to move back and forth between the human world and the Shadow Realm for 5,000 years, unable to die, searching for Atem's reincarnation, "the Century Child.” She wields a double-headed spear with great skill and her hairstyle is reminiscent of the Egyptian "youth-lock" worn by boys and girls until they reached puberty. The ankh she wears is a symbol of faithfulness and rebirth. (Note: the pinkish mark on her right side is part of a scar.)

Behind Her Name:

“Rashida” (pronounced rah-SHEE-dah) means “righteous” in Egyptian. You can see her name in hieroglyphs here: [link]
