Ivory Tower by Hideyoshi Ivory Tower by Hideyoshi
Here goes another Fantasy piece! :)

Yeah, pretty unusual for me, huh? But I want to break free from being typecast with Sci-fi only. Gotta expand! :)

I spent some more time with this, it's the Ivory Tower from Neverending Story, again for EOW 100

dunno how long it took, prolly 6-7h, no ref.

May I use this as an album cover? I actually am releasing an album called "Ivory Towers" and think a cropped version of this is honestly perfect. It kind of reminds me of old Yes album covers or something

Nice piece or art, that´s for sure.

Unfortunately, the description from the original novel, has less to do with your painting...

Please read the book (don´t watch the crappy movie) and try again!

With your outstanding skills, you will contribute to the memory of that great author, Michael Ende.

Hmmm. Gave me an idea. I might try to make this in minecraft. Underwhelming, I know, but I think it might be a fun challenge.

This is beautiful!! Neverending Story is my most favourite book, and it's actually oddly hard to find different imaginings of the Ivory Tower apart from the film's version. There is just so much to work with, I mean, there's an entire city built around the outside of it, and I can see you've added that down the bottom - anyway I'll stop now, but bottom line, you've made my day :)

this is absolutely fantastic. I know it might be nitpicking, but the book tells of a arbor labyrinth circling the tower. would be cool if you'd added it as well. HOWEVER! This is saturated brilliance, and i applaude you! Its one of my favorite stories, and you've captured the mysticism of the place brilliantly

I have to admit, when I first saw this piece, I was thinking, "wow, generic sky, generic hills and grass, generic futuristic building.' :| Then I saw the highly detailed little relaxing fairy under a tree, and it totally gave the piece a completely new perspective, and I was all like, "OMG, this piece is just totally COOL!

I absolutely love your art style where you make a speed-paint, then go back and add the main focus on a certain subject in after (or is it before). This is awesome, as the background and other details don't subtract from whatever the mains subject is. Plus it's original, I've never seen any other artist do anything quite like that...

yeah, most of the time I paint with color directly as it gives better results and will look more realistic.

For some reason it made me think of a song about an "ivory tower" in the lyrics. I think the drawing fits very well to the song. But I've never heard of the book, so it probably doesn't fit with the book much.

(that paragraph probably made no sense... ^^; ) *shotdead*
