Peter the Magnificent

I finally picked up some pastels....and after 15 minutes of contemplation in the aisle, I decided to splurge and buy Rembrandt soft pastels (it wasn't only because they were ridiculously expensive, but my mentor used that type of pastel and it really became up to whether I was worthy enough to use them...)
I haven't used pastels since I was a kid, so I decided to test them out by doing this--Peter Pevensie from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. So, this was basically a tester for the and somehow, I ended up spending 19 hours on it....I know I didn't get the exact likeness (and after thinking about it for a while, I think it's partially because I'm used to drawing men that are a bit older and stately in a stuffy Victorian way) and I can see everything wrong with it now, so booo
...But Chris really likes it (and I rarely impress him anymore) so I suppose I should be happy with it.

As a prior commenter stated: This is a fantastic "Golden Age" portrait of Peter, High King of Narnia. I've always loved pastel portraits and you came right up to the mark, IMO. I find it hard to believe that this was your first pastel drawing since you were a kid. Amazing!
I'm so very glad that I found it here today. It's going on my faves!

Well, you might say boo but I say wwwwoooowwwww. I love the picture, it is exactly how I imagine Peter woudl grow up. Its actually nicer that you have drawn him more grown up than he looks in the film but not yet as grown up as he appeard at the end with beard and all. This is incredibly well done and I think every penny you wasted on those pastels was wll worth it. Have you painted Susan? I think she would look great in this style also.
