Well, I had a lot hype for TF2C, but the developers are dicks, the chief being a gay neo nazi dude that spams memes and wants money.
Head to Vintage!

Hi man. I'm the current project lead of Team Fortress 2 Classic, and I want to be able to clear up a few things that have been stated with our current development of the mod. A quick note I want to make before starting this off is that I am not the previous project lead as of a few months ago; I have been appointed the role of leading the mod due to the fact of my love for TF2 as a whole, and that I want to support TF2Classic as a mod as long as possible.

First off, we currently have our downloads to the previous betas of TF2Classic down, due to the fact that they are not a good representation of the content we currently provide. There are technically unofficial downloads to B4 floating around, but I can assure you that B4 is not locked behind a DRM group; Our current development build is on the other hand.

Secondly, the reason we split TF2Classic and Deathmatch apart from one-another is due to that the code was getting fairly messy (I.E. if you wanted to add a feature to one part of the game, it would screw with the other part of the game.), as well as the fact that Deathmatch felt like it's own mod than a gamemode.

I don't condone the monetizing of Deathmatch, since I don't work on the project, but I can assure that the fact it was being given a price tag in the first place was to prevent any bots from ruining any game-play within the mod.

With all this said, I'm sorry that you feel this way about TF2Classic, and I hope upon our release of the newest update will possibly change your mind about Team Fortress 2 Classic as a whole.

I'm listening.
Also because this is pretty much a very short "In a nutshell" version of my experience and of what I heard about all three old TF2 Source mods. I still have hopes for Classic, but I really want to actually know what's happening.

I did see later that it was about coding problems, and not only about DM feeling way different from the actual TF2C. However, I did hear some people in some groups that were floating rumors about it being paid. I won't deny it ticks me off, but I would buy it nonetheless, at least is not Hunt Down The Freeman. I mean, I do wish TF2 was still payable too, and not free, available to bots and hackers.
And now that I think, if you're going to monetize it, it means you're doing your best to make it as polished, playable, bugless as possible.

The problem that ticks me off more is about a curiosity of mine, that worries me a lot.
Even if the DM mode and the DM Merc are a community original, what about the rest of the TF2 assets and theme? I think VALVe let you (and the previous team) develop the mod since it was non-profit after a very early member of the developers had a quarrel and abandoned the project, reporting TF2Classic to VALVe.
If the team ends up making DM Fortress payable, May I kindly ask how are you gonna work around this? I'd feel bad to see such a potential and great idea become Ceased and Desisted. ;_;

Thanks in advance.

Deathmatch still uses the Team Fortress 2 theme, but as I said, I can't talk too much on it since I don't work on the Deathmatch team; From my own words, I don't think it'd be a problem since Live TF2 and Deathmatch play much differently from one-another.

Team Fortress 2 Classic, on the other hand, will always be free for anyone to play, with new gamemodes and the sort coming with the update we're still currently working on.

Wait, Valve updated the Quality Control policy, which means everyone can post their games on the Steam Store anytime you want (Well that's from what I heard.). Does that mean they can put Team Fortress 2 Vintage on the Steam Store just like Black Mesa and *Cough* HDTF *Cough*?!

I used to be hyped for TF2C, but the developers are idiots that just want memes and money. I'll just go for TF2 Vintage.

I'd prefer to spend thousands of bucks for a pair of tits with 56.6kb during the 90s than pay microtransactions for every site in the internet.
