Relics of the Mystics - Iysatar's Laboratory

Description

In an abandoned, ruined stronghold on an island not to far off the north coast of Adreas, the Mystics set up a magic experimentation facility. They began trying to find ways to empower the soldiers in their army. Despite Mendas possessing Velerad's ability to summon monsters at will, a large portion of the army was still comprised of the non-human races. So enhancing their abilities would greatly strengthen their army's power. Iysatar was the the main researcher and performed many experiments, starting with non-humans as the test subjects. However, when the effects of the experiments produced horrific results, Iysatar decided it would be better to perform the tests on the human prisoners they had captured. Eventually he managed to increase the physical capabilities of one subject but it decreased their mental prowess, leaving them as a mindless hulk. Iysatar planned to use these results as a basis for further and attempt to remove the detrimental effects while maintaining the positive physical effects.

This one took a lot of time to render (I left it running for about two days straight). I tried to make this look like a medieval fantasy alchemy lab. I added some glowing effects to a few of the bottles and jars and the liquid in the tank. There are books and scrolls on the table near the tank which are where Iysatar would keep his notes and look up ingredients. I wanted to keep it dimly lit because of the fact that this is supposed to be the cellar floor of one of the buildings. I did add a bunch of light sources though so that the light would be more evenly distributed throughout the room. I also added a bit of rubble and debris to one corner of the room because this is still a makeshift laboratory. The room itself was made using the Medieval Interior Construction Kit and the other objects are from various sets to fill in the space. The creature in the tank is a Genesis 3 Male character with a bunch of different morphs added to him, but I'm going to upload an individual character render of that so I'll go more into detail there.

On the Photoshop side, I added some glow around the flames and bottles to give them a slight bloom effect. I also lightened things a little bit.
