Description
Originally from my first D&D campaign, Erylise ended up joining the players' party and has continued on into my new game that I'm running now. She comes from a race of people who lived in places so overly-saturated with magic that it began to affect their physical appearance, causing markings to appear on their skin that would shift and glow in response to magic. This granted them innate magical ability, but it is usually uncontrollable and can be a danger to both themselves and everyone around them. It takes very dedicated and focused practice to master and control their magic, something few have actually done. Both during and after the events of my first game, Erylise spent time with some of the most magically-gifted people who helped her get a handle on her abilities. She was once a timid girl but after years of practicing magic, she has gained confidence, a newfound sense of adventure and delights in seeing the capabilities of her magic.
This is definitely one of my favorite characters I have ever made. The base model is Clarice for Genesis 3 Females. She's a younger looking model so it was a good starting point, especially with the pale skin. Her outfit is a mix of multiple different outfits (the dress and armwraps, the belt, the pants, the boots, the shrug, various textures 1 2) Originally, I used more dirty and ragged textures for the outfit because when she is first met in the story, she is uncontrollably teleporting all across the kingdom. This is her updated outfit that she wears currently. Lastly, the hair I used is called Misty Hair.I liked the look of a hairstyle that was somewhat short and seemed slightly messy. Lastly, the pose I gave her is very casual to show how she is no longer timid, and the smirk gives her the look of confidence and happiness with her new life.
The biggest thing I had to do here was adding the runes to her skin. It started with me making a rune set completely from scratch. I made enough that can translate into an alphabet (26 different runes) in Illustrator. I went for a very angular style for those and based some of actual letters and others are just pretty much random assortments of lines. Then I had to add them to the existing textures for her torso, arms and face. (I only did those three because everything else is covered so they wouldn't be seen anyway) I had to edit the color and bump maps to make the runes appear to be embedded in her skin and create a third one so that the runes would glow. That part was all done in Photoshop. And then that was it.
