Master and servant

I promised myself not to make any more paintings until after the christmas holidays as I never seem to get to bed when I have a personal painting project going on. Guess I blew that promise, hehe. This is kind of a speed painting. I made this during this evening, and this is something I would like to call a cheesy portrait starring myself :-)

Painted from scratch using Photoshop with an Art Pad during one evening. The original high res painting is pretty rough if you look at it close.

The step by step process of making this painting can be seen here: [link]

Now the real question is: Who's the master?

As for my comment: This kicks wicked butt!

this is insane for a "speed painting." it's really incredible. the idea of it all is super sick. It's like having a huge, bodyguarding sidekick buddy. the lighting here is amazing. the half glow and shadows working over the skin tones and metal tones work so nicely together. i really LOVE LOVE LOVE this.

Thanks, I made it 4 years ago, though. It says during one evening in the description, so I guess that's correct, hehe.

Wow...the intensity of this painting is most intoxicating. A nice twist on the Frankensteins monster concept. Who really is the monster.

The thing in the background looks like a Cylon... :)

The painting is great!

Lemme guess, you're implying that there is some doubt as to who the master is, and likewise, the servant.

Nice picture by the way: it would inspire me to write a story. The dialogue between the two would not contain any overt commands, mainly reminders, making one question who's in charge.

I don`t know why you call it master and servant, but i am a great admirer of Depeche Mode and this title make me think in one of their songs...
Also I must say that all your gallery is excellent and that you are part of my favorites from now on…
I hope to see new works soon...

Sweet. The awesomeness just seems to just blow me off my feet. The overall look; textures, skin tone (metal monstor included) and colour as well the chosen direction for the light source give your peice here a heavy realistic impact, especially the lightly glossed look/shine of his hair. I must favourite this.

Best Regards

Friggin great :) I'm on total awe every time I see a painting as realistic as this. Have you been doing pieces like this for a long time?

Thank for all your nice comments :-)
I've been doing fantasy related stuff since I had the Amiga computer (early 90's), but I didn't start making pieces like this until the summer of 2004.

You look like an older Edward Elric (See: Fullmetal Alchemist) with your little brother Alphonse in the background. :D

Pretty cool painting though, sometimes a little roughness looks better than photoreaiism.

I don't think so. In fact, I think your face is quite haunting.
