This is the cover box illustration for Fantasy Flight Games table top / board game expansion for Arkham Horror, named Dunwich Horror, which is based on the worlds of renowned horror master H.P. Lovecraft.
We got this request just before christmas, so I brought my laptop with me when I visited my parents so that I could workon on the piece. It was quite strange sitting in my little room again, hehe...
Michael Komark made the illustration for the previous Arkham Horror box, so we had some pretty damn big shoes to fill when making this one
My girlfriend
made the conceptual sketch, so this is the first painting we’ve worked together on Painted during quite a few evenings using Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. Reference used for the characters.

Wasn't "Arkham Horror" unique as the first game where no player could die before the end? Even if that meant crawling around as...
