how it's made - damascus steel cable blade

how it's made - damascus steel cable blade

Hello again from Transylvania! I present you guys my mini series, consisting of 3 clips in total, demonstrating how I forge a knife blade from A to Z, using steel cable and leaf spring. Feel free to like, comment and subscribe if you enjoyed it. It would help me beat my inner sloth and make more of these. My other works: http://hellize.wixsite.com/mysite

Hi there, looks like I found a right place to be curious of the arts of smithy. *Watched*

I love weapon making. I'd like to start but I don't have enough space for a forge. Love your work

Thanks! :)
Well, I don't know how much space are you thinking about you need, but I can tell you that when I started, I only had about 4 square meters in total, in the basement. I did pretty much everything by hand back then, didn't have any powertools at all. Only a small coal forge (home made from scrap metal of course), a piece of rail road track for an anvil on a stump and a bench with a small wise.
Had this setup for about 4 years, till I could move and expand.
Anyway, my advise is, if you would really like to try it, jump into it and do it! Life is too short for regrets ;)

true that. just gotta build a forge i guess. i mean, i have a pot belly fire place but i don't know how hot that gets. anyway, it sounds like you started of with way less. thanks for the help.

:D Yeah, starting with little forces you to be creative. And that, my friend, is the most important feat of a smith! ;)

If you don’t mind... I may or may not be contacting you in the future with other blacksmith related questions
hellizeHobbyist Artisan Crafter
May or may not?! :D
Sure! Whatever... let the questions fly! :) I will answer if I can.
