NORTHERN INDIA 1780 by hellbat NORTHERN INDIA 1780 by hellbat
a map of northern india at the birth of maharaja ranjit singh.

the map shows the areas controlled by the different sikh confedrecy's (in capital text) and afghan warlords (the flags) at the at the time. it also shows the possible threats to region from other powers (the arrows).

i found this map in a very old book called "the martial races of india" i borrowed from the library in the early 90's. the book was written by a british officer serving in india in around the late 1800's or early 1900's whoes name, i think, might have been gough. i presume this was guy who originally drew the map. the library has since been burned down, destroying that copy of a book thats probably extremely rare.

i photocopied the map and enlarged it. i then redifined all of the lines and text.

i recently found it with some of my drawings from when i was a young lad. i thought it would be a good idea to submit this as a deviant as the original is probably very hard to get hold of, if not impossible.

i did have to clear it up as there were pixel dots from the photocopying/enlargement process. i did this using cs2.

i also coloured the teritory belonging to the sukerchakia confederate whose chiefship, ranjit singh inherited from his father. again using cs2.

i do intend to create a new deviation using this map showing the boundries of the lahore empire at the height of its power.
