Eclipse Change Log: April 3, 2019
In this week’s change log, we've reduced thumbnail sizes as well as addressed a number of bug fixes and improvements. Stay tuned for more, and keep the bug reports and feature requests coming! Thumbnail Sizes Have Been Reduced! A top community concern was that thumbnails were too big across the site. Based on your feedback, we’ve reduced thumbnails 75% of their original size. We’re also working on improvements to Feedback — an area where many deviants feel that everything is too big — and exploring how we can reduce the layout here as well. Change Log Fixed issue where the feedback dropdown would appear really tall. Added anchor links on Profile, so that clicking "Show All" on the Watchers and Groups section would bring you to the proper section on the About page. Fixed issue where, after removing comments from your profile, you would not be able to add them back. Fixed issue where “edit” button no longer appeared on your comments. Testing A New Thumbnail Grid
In June, we announced forthcoming changes to the display of our thumbnail grid.  Beta Testing followed in September, and after much optimization, bug fixes, and improvements to load times, we're proud to announce that, as of today, we've begun testing the new thumbnail grid to the site-at-large. The new grid is being tested to a segment of deviants — both logged in and logged out. Currently, there is no way to opt-in (or out) of the test, but if everything goes as planned, it will soon be rolled out to the rest of the site. DeviantArt is always looking for the best ways to serve deviants, and in 2010 we introduced DeviantArt Points – our virtual currency.

Points can be used in a variety of ways, including rewarding fellow deviants for a job well done, supporting artists through commissions, buying Prints, or simply giving a gift with love.  In certain circumstances, like when earning royalties through the Commissions widget or Prints sales, Points can also be exchanged and redeemed for real money.

Any time real money is involved, there are inevitably a small number of “bad actors” who seek to game the system and take advantage of it.  To ensure the safety and security of our community when engaging in the Points ecosystem, we've recently enhanced our fraud detection tools and added new members to DeviantArt's Trust and Safety team.  With the addition of these tools and team members, we will be able to detect and investigate potential instances of Points fraud and/or bad actors abusing the system faster and more thoroughly than ever before.  In the event we find evidence of abuse that violates the Terms and Conditions for Points, we will take action accordingly.

We care deeply about our community aiming to provide all deviants with a safe and fun environment to create and grow.  This commitment to safety includes ensuring deviants have confidence when using DeviantArt Points and engaging with other deviants who do the same.

If you have specific questions or concerns regarding Points, please submit a Help Desk ticket and someone from our Community Operations team would be happy to assist you.

u need to add a way to instant-report deviations without having to click on it. more clicks = more views = more popular = more people get scammed by the "click here for free points!" things.

and there's no option to report comments if u don't own the deviation/journal being commented on so there's nothing to do about the people who post scam links as comments on super popular art because they know the artist is too swamped in messages to read very single one and report stuff themselves + since it's popular art it gets a lot of views and scams a lot more people so it's win/win for them.

edit: just saw the comments and realized i'm the only person who cares about the "click here for free points!" scams. everyone else is just copy/pasting each other about dAhub.

No, I have fallen into the trap before! I managed to back load out before it got ahold of my device/account

I did see dAhub was back in operation. Not sure what the problem was but am glad there was a solution.

As mentioned in the "Fraud Protection for Points" journal, DeviantArt recently enhanced our fraud detection tools and added new members to our Trust and Safety team.  With those improvements, we identified activity from dAhub that required thorough investigation.  We've since addressed a number of issues and concerns with the owner of the account, and have agreed to terms that will allow dAhub to continue to operate -- permitting all terms continue to be met in the future.

DeviantArt is committed to providing a safe and fair ecosystem for Points, ensuring deviants have confidence when using Points and engaging with other deviants who do the same.  As always, we aim to deal with disagreements and misunderstandings in an amicable and mutually beneficial way.

Why was dAhub banned? They did absolutely nothing wrong, and none of the bot's actions were against the Terms of Service. In fact, they probably did the staff a favor, since part of the money that dAhub users spent on points went to staff members.
Furthermore, if you care about the community, then that's all the more reason to keep dAhub around! DAhub was a fair way for some users to earn points and for others to gain recognition. How is that "bad acting"?

Hey Heidi, thanks for doing a good job for so many years now. I appreciate DA's concern about fraud protection which resulted in the stopping of the operations at the famous dAhub here on this site. This is my opinion on that matter:
  • The services on dAhub exist and are active for seven years now. To this date it was a very useful tool for many deviants to generate a few points and others to get real traffic and attention on their profile and galleries. It was a win/win situation, also for the point sales of DA because many artists buy points to donate them to the dA-Hub.
  • Until recently nobody of DA's Trust and Safety team cared about the point transfers at that place. WHY NOW??? It's still working the same since July 2012 (Java Bot) and the owner states that his services are compliant with DA's Terms and Conditions that haven't been updated since then.
  • I personally don't believe that there is any fraud involved in the services of dAhub. The owner made his actions transparent on his pages. He explicitly explains how his bot works and how the donated points are distributed. He is not earning any real money with it.
  • If you have an "automated fraud detection tool" in use why isn't there any result concerning the dA-Hub by now? It's down since April 17.
  • As many other deviants I am voting to keep and reactivate the services of dAhub because it's for the benefit of a lot of people and it's enhancing the community spirit.
SAVE dAhub! :icondahub:
