The Devious Dreams campaign launched in March 2019 as a chance for DeviantArt to grant artists the tools they need to make their creative evolution a reality. With over $20,000 in prizing available to make dreams come true, thousands of deviants shared a wide range of creative and heartfelt dreams for their artistic future. We particularly enjoyed seeing the support everyone put forward for each others’ creative goals.

Now that the campaign has come to a close, it is our honor to announce the recipients of Devious Dreams grants—a collective of artists from all walks of life with a broad spectrum of creative ideas. Some of these deviants requested drawing tablets so they can create every day. Others asked for traditional art supplies, or photography tools to more efficiently create and share their art. Some asked for crafting supplies like sculpting or sewing materials. The projects each artist put forward were varied and inspired, and it’s our pleasure to help bring these dreams to life.

Making Dreams a Reality! :star:

A DeviantArt staff member individually replied via comment to each dream recipient on April 3rd or 4th to inform the respective deviants they were selected, and the reactions of the recipients alone made the campaign well worth undertaking! We also awarded an additional $2,000 in prizing to deserving deviants as part of the Devious Dreams livestream! Performer and voice actress Erika Ishii hosted the festivities, featuring voice actor Gary Anthony Williams doing readings of literature submitted to DeviantArt, clay sculpting games with @humblehills @ekud @HeartsUnchained and much more! If you didn’t get a chance to see the stream when it was happening live, have no fear! You can still watch the full video!

Congrats to those who earned the money.  Would anyone who didn't win be interested in critiquing mine or sharing your own idea?  We can give each other suggestions.   Personally I'd enjoy these contests a lot more if we could actually get feedback for our project ideas and get some insight on how to make them successful.  I want to improve and I'd much rather be critiqued for my work than given generic encouragement.

I forgot to mention that this contest was also unfair because the ones that entered have probably been banned before and the ones that were banned before couldn't have entered and they entered anyway because the DA staff supports bullies, pedophiles, stalkers, scammers, spammers because they almost never get caught and have their accounts deleted by the staff. There is too many reasons why this contest was so unfair. All of DA's contests are unfair.

Congratulations to everyone who won!

If you're like me and you didn't, don't complain. instead chase your dream with more vigor than ever before.
Thank the devs for helping many people realize their dreams, they didn't have to be this generous to the community but they were.
Encourage the winners to pursue their goal and support them as they grow.

This can be the day you begin working towards your dream project,

so why not start now?

Okay, so, I bet when these people have completed their projects, whether it’s pottery or art, they will probably sell it at way more than $2000.

Congrats to the winners! ^^ I knew that I wouldn't be chosen, so I'm not disappointed.
And although I may not agree with every project that won, it's none of my business, so congratulations!

By the way, to every artist that needs this info: you can obtain Photoshop and SAI for free.
Also, there's no need to spend a huge ammount of money on traditional art supplies. Sometimes, cheaper suplies are either of the same quality or even better than well known brands. (Since some famous brands are also behind most of the low cost brands)

Huh? I thought Adobe Photoshop was paid in a endless rental form?
HeartStorm4ever's avatar
HeartStorm4everHobbyist General Artist
For some people sure. I got mine for free (when I still had a pc) and it was the latest edition at the time.
It depends on how you get it. I would never pay that much for a program! I prefer to save that money to eat; something that I haven't for guarantee every day.
rainbows2424's avatar
rainbows2424Hobbyist Digital Artist
Huh? I looked all around and all the official methods for getting it had a endless rental for it. Unless you used the illegal piracy form.

Well, that's one way to say it. Or you can say that you bended the rules a little.
