Finally(!) here's the komodo dragon that ~Flawliet asked for 
I tried a different method this time around. Instead of painting with just one shade, I did a simple watercolour for the skin and drew out the skeleton on a separate sheet, cut it out and then placed it over the top of the body.
Doing it this way it's difficult to get the skeleton to fit perfectly on the points it should be, but I did my best and I actually prefer the outcome of this method than the others I've used, so I'll be using this technique in the future.

You can get more detail with this style, which works really well for the more complicated skeletons. At first I thought you had cut the skeleton out of card and then painted over it using it as a stencil (to leave the skeleton in white on the paper). I often use this method to make cards for people.
I think you should continue using this technique. Cutting out that skeleton must have been a mission though!
