This is the start of a project that's been on my mind for a while. I wanted to represent the four kinds of love as perceived by the ancient Greeks. I tried at least four or five different styles before settling for Mobius bubbles, but it was worth the wait. Also, my watchers voted for more Apophysis submissions coming from me, and I hope this decision makes them happy as well :D

This is the first fractal out of four, representing Eros:
"Éros (ἔρως érōs) is passionate love, with sensual desire and longing. The Modern Greek word "erotas" means "intimate love"; however, eros does not have to be sexual in nature. Eros can be interpreted as a love for someone whom you love more than the philia, love of friendship. It can also apply to dating relationships as well as marriage. Plato refined his own definition: Although eros is initially felt for a person, with contemplation it becomes an appreciation of the beauty within that person, or even becomes appreciation of beauty itself. [...]"
~ Wikipedia

The part I "bolded" in the quote is the one that inspired me most about the Greek concept of eros. Being asexual I've always thought of being passionate as something different from actually "getting it on" so to speak. What I wanted to depict with this fractal is exactly the deep, passionate feeling that is proper of eros, bereft of its sexual nature.

By the way, each of these fractals will be dedicated to something or someone in particular. This one is for knowledge, freedom of thought, respect and all other key values in my life. I feel extremely passionate about them, and as such, they're the most worthy recipients of this artwork. :aww:
