I'm loving the grungy feel in the background and how you've tried to subtly blend the colour of the roses towards an orangey hue as they progress further into the background. It helps to emphasize the main subject and adds visual interest to the right side of the painting, providing a sort of balance to whatever's going on in the left.
I'm wondering though, what colour palette did you intend this painting to have from the start? There is a lot of black in this piece, which I feel maaaay contradict a little to the warmer, happier mood you are trying to portray here. There are also some muddy colours in the upper right hand corner (the brown gradient). Have you heard of complementary colours? Perhaps if you want to darken or mute an orangey-red colour, you could add a saturated turquoise to it. www.doobert.com/wp-content/upl… It helps the painting look brighter in general since adding black or grey tends to muddy the colours. It may have worked great with "Darkness Within", but it is something you could explore for "Light Within"
You could also try adding velvet red to the roses in the bottom left corner in the form of highlights. Rose petals tend to take on brighter reds near to the edge. You pulled this off beautifully with the pink rose in the centre of the painting, behind the woman. Just adding a couple highlights to the roses in the lower left will help to define them better.
Good work!
