Minoan Palace Knossos

watercolor on paper
approx 22 x 15

Final for Watercolor 1. Do a citycape. I went through my archives and found a photo I took when my husband and I visited the Minoan Palace Knossos in Crete Greece. This is the final piece. Many hours of work and lots of patience.

Wow! Amazing work! Love it!

I was wandering if you could let me us this image for an Android game called "Kingdoms of Myth", it's turn based strategy game based on a fantasy World. You can find a little bit more info in this rough website made by my colleges… (Sorry for the bad English). Of course you will have full credits of your work and link to your webpage if you want :)

Lot of thanks for your time ;)

Looks good, and the texture of the paper is very fitting for the rocks and ceramic :) I would've used less saturated colors, I think, the yellow and purple stand out a bit too much. But overall it's a nice painting. The floor in particular is quite realistic.

Thank you for your comment.

My instructor encouraged us to push the colors to make it interesting. I agree about the purple being a bit much but I think overall it has a nice look.

The "texture of the paper" isnt actually the paper. I used salt and a little bit of dry brush to create that texture. :D

hmm, are we talking about the same thing? When I said "texture" I meant that very fine grain that's all over the page. My apologies if I don't know what I'm talking about!:D It's a lovely painting either way.

Ahh ok. I see what you are talking about. No worries.

I adore anything Minoan, this is a nice picture. You have a pleasant touch with watercolor. I have to admit that this does not fit my understanding of the term "cityscape" though.

It doesnt fit my definition of cityscape either but my teacher approved it for the cityscape assignment so ya.

Nice. I recognized your painting as the Palace of Knossos. I went there when I was stationed in Athens from 1987-1989.

Im glad you recognized it. I visited there Sept last year. Crete was beautiful. I would love love love to go back.

We didnt make it to Athens but I would love to go there too :D
