Manga Resume by HeartGear Manga Resume by HeartGear
This is a Resume I put together to pick up some Freelance
positions. I'm pretty durn satisfied with how it came out. Granted
that things settle and I can focus on my own projects, I'd like to do
Gemini Reverse/ Dancer in the Dark in this format.

^_^
Thanks for stopping by!

Considering how most employers tend to only look at a resume for a nanosecond....you would definitely catch their attention with this.

Maybe I should consider something like this...and since I'm going into game design maybe an interactive resume?

Oh this is pretty much what I want to do for my CV as I am creating a designer one in my current course. I'm thinking of buying Manga Studio to help me on this.

Fantastic work! ^_^

Wow, a very interesting spin on a resume. Even though I personally am not a fan of manga, I can defiantly see how unique this is and how it is something anybody would remember. :)

Although when I did first look at it (before reading) I assumed the character was a female, than after I read the name Mike and felt kind of dumb (the pictures are very interesting and draw you in, I took a quick glance which made me assume the gender).

As a graphic designer, we are told to make our resumes interesting and unique; I always figured that many clients and folks looking to hire wouldn't want to take the time and effort nor care if something looks all fancy. We had one kid make a resume in ALL typography that was 7 pages long together front and back; sometimes I feel things can be appreciated within people who respect that media type, rather than someone looking to hire. Not to mention, audiences matter. It made me kind of think about what direction I personally want to go in. Your resume seems to be more targeted towards somebody looking for illustrations/ comics, which is neat how right off I can tell that. Compared to somebody else like myself who is looking for graphics and branding. Sometimes I wonder if going all out matters or just aggravates people.

I really like your idea; I wouldn't mind myself making one based off my own illustrations now (as a side/ fun thing since it really has nothing to do with my field, but it would be cool to target my work towards a different audience). I have always wanted to make comics, I just never knew what programs to use. I tried everything possible and could never get the outcome I wanted. So now I just doodle hahah. I found you by searching resume and am glad that I did so in my never ending quest.

Either way, awesome job, very interesting and unique. :)

Ok, this is unquestionably clever and well-drawn. But as someone who's spent far too many hours of his life job hunting and writing resumes, something that concerns me for your sake is the flirtiness of the final panel. Sure potential employers will be entertained and impressed by the nature of your resume, but some might be put off by your hinting that they might be interested in you in a way beyond professionally. I think it hurts your image and might make potential employers uncomfortable. That's how it comes across to me at least, and I want you to make it big. :) Just my 2 cents.

Anyway, I love this! It's a fantastic way to explain your credentials AND show your talent. Very clever.

I don't know how job hiring works in your field of expertise, but you might want to have a normal text resume just in case a website's search engine doesn't accept this xD

of course, online searches for jobs suck horribly and lead to few, if any results that usually end in rejection...so i can understand if you'd want to stay away from online searches xD

I prefer to look for jobs through people or "on the ground." I learned real fast that online searches tend to end in "well that was a waste of time."

If your interested in sexual conversion Mike, I'd recommend hopping a plane over to Thailand. They've almost perfected their surgical sex changes over there. Just thought I'd post that info in case ya didn't know about it.

Fun idea for a Resume.

If you're really into doing a manga style, the best tool is "Manga Studio" it's an english-language translation of a Japanese manga production program, and it's got all the manga textures and effects built in. Highly recommended for any computer production work, but especially good for manga.

Oh - "Art Directer" should be "Art Director".

This works on so many levels as a manga/illustration resume. Obviously it's creative and unique; there's no way that, as an employer, you could see this on your desk and not remember it. The way you made yourself talking through your accolades makes it seem like the interview has already started, and it makes your achievements pop out even more. You manage to make it both playful and professional, which is like... I don't even know. That's just awesome.

I feel like just reading it makes me want to work harder, so I can make something like this someday.

That is such an epic resume! It's gorgeously done, a beautiful layout, leading the eye where you want it, shading and use of black flats! You go! And still seriously jealous of your hair!

I agree. It does look professional.

The only thing that throws me off is the right-to-left style, but (hopefully) everyone that you submit it to is familiar enough with manga.

Wow this looks like a professional manga. The art style, the poses of the character, shading, and choice of scenery all look spot on. This makes an excellent resume for a manga artist!

Something I would suggest to add is a website and use it as a portfolio (or you can use DA).
