Mushroom Hill Zone
Vs. Hey Ho

After felling the Death Egg for the second time, Sonic lands deep in Angel Island's valley of mushrooms. Determined to ensure the safety of the Chaos Emeralds he has acquired and the complete destruction of the Death Egg, Sonic ventures forth and encounters Eggman's wood chopping titan. An undesired challenge, but not a difficult one for the hedgehog who has come this far; Sonic will see to it that this malicious cutter faces a real blade... a whole hedgehog full of them.

Production Notes:
- 3 days for this one. I'm surprised, seeing as one was the entire background, the second was the foreground and Sonic, and the third was just the boss. Being able to heavily modify images of plant matter instead of drawing it all from scratch helps.

Not much else to say here. I like it, and I hope you all do to.

Until the next one folks.

Do you think you could make a combonation of Hey-Ho and Jet Mobile and put the Hey-Ho Mobile in a highway level with Hey-Ho Mobile knocking down the pillars that hold up bridges and some other gimmicks?

The amount of nostalgia this induces is just incredible. Excellent work with bringing out that same classic feel in a modern look.

Impressive work. The vegetation texture on the ground is great, and the flying woodchips around the axe are a neat little touch. The background, in particular, is an eye-catcher.

Thank you for commenting on these points. Plant matter has always been a fiendish challenge for me, so I'm glad you like the results in the foreground and background. I hope to reuse that background for the zone boss a little later on; I also really like that result.

I've noticed the texture of the ground looks similar to Sonic Generations' version of Mushroom Hill Zone. :meow:

Good eye. I couldn't make heads or tails of what that original texture was supposed to look like in higher definition, so I ran to my recently purchased copy of Generations 3DS for inspiration. The sunbeams shooting through the canopy also come from that version.

Thank you for this comment. I'm glad you like the plant matter results. That's always been a trouble area for me, and I'm elated to read that I'm getting it right.

I know right? A lot of those Genesis era bosses had all kinds of goof ball names. I think they either came from Japanese manuals or strategy guides (maybe a mixture of both) but I know they are legitimate. You can find out some of the other bosses' names here: [link]
