The Smooze

The Smooze was an interesting way to adapt an old-school character (did it count as a character in its original appearance?) to FiM.  I admire them for going the unexpected route with him.  And, of course, the "Dumb and Dumber" reference with Discord was perfect.  They got a lot of good mileage out of him, giving Rarity a wardrobe malfunction and trashing yet another Gala in the process.  I really have no complaints, although he is one of the more impactful characters that I don't really feel the need to revisit.  Then again, I felt that way about Maud originally, and have actually enjoyed her more limited appearances since more than her original one, so who knows?  Perhaps old Smoozie might make a fine guest star again (Beyond his cameo in "What About Discord?" of course...)
