The Moon enters from the right slowly blotting out the Sun. Caught in a rare cosmic dance I captured this image in infrared. The atmospheric conditions were illuminated in a haze.
Taken with a 400mm Nikkor with 720 angstrom opaque filter on a converted D-200 infrared body, as I switched from conventional D-800 body. I didn't need the filter as the camera was converted, but it was a safety device to keep from burning up the camera's sensor.
Feel free to download, just give me photo credit.

The solar eclipse neared totality in my region, but never achieved the spectacular effect possible. As always I did the best I could and decided the partial appeared better this way, rather than a sliver at the top.
