Welcome to the first show of the 2019's season of The HARPG World Series!
We're starting the year off in the land of The Eiffel Tower and baguettes - oui, you guessed it, France! With one of the country's most iconic landmarks right above the arena, the show is bound to be breathtaking!

LOCATION AND WEATHER

Date: This show will take place over a span of multiple days during early May.

Time of day: 7 am - 9 pm (sunset to sunrise)

Weather: Weather forecast for the entire show is mostly clear skies with a daily high of about 22°C, possible chilly winds in the morning/evening, and an occasional cloud rolling by.

Coordinates: 51°03'38.0"N | 13°47'33.1"E

ARENA
The competition will take place in a make-shift arena on the sand dunes between Mont Saint-Michel and the mainland. It will be low tide, so the arena area will be dry, but you may still get your feet (or hooves) wet if you stray too far away from it. The arena fence is a simple 1.30m white two railed fence.
For dressage, an additional low two-rail dressage fencing with letters will be set up inside the 1.30m fence.

OBSTACLES

HWS 2019 | Standard Obstacle Collection by HWS-Official HWS 2019 Mont Saint Michel | Obstacle collection by HWS-Official

You are allowed to modify these obstacles for your HWS show entry (for example make an oxer out of a straight, change the design's hue, or add/remove flowers or elements) - they are there for your inspiration and will not be judged on accuracy.

Furthermore, the order of obstacles and their position in the arena is up to you. You are also allowed to draw or design your own obstacles, and you may draw additional arena decorations (plants, fillers etc.), but stick to the location theme and try to be a little creative.

GENERAL RULES

RIDERS AND HORSES

-Only realistic human riders allowed. This show takes place in the human world, where fantasy exists only in forms of legends and rare obscure appearances - so no animal, furry, elf, goblin etc. riders. Supernatural characters allowed IF they appear and act entirely human for the time of the event.

- Only realistic horses allowed, although unnatural colours will be accepted to a certain degree (for example, coloured manes or minimal coloured markings are okay), if they can be explained in a realistic way (aka spray paint). Fantasy breeds are allowed if they appear realistic, but any special powers may not be displayed or used, so no visible wings, horns, spikes, etc.

-For the Grand Prix, the minimum horse age is 8 years, minimum human age is 16, and both require proof of previous experience; either 1 training picture, or 1 previous show picture. Ponies, mules, donkeys etc. are not allowed.

-For the Mini Prix, minimum horse age is 5 years, minimum rider age is 12, and no proof of experience is necessary. Ponies may enter this class, providing they are physically big and strong enough to (realistically) be able to carry their rider.

ARTWORK

- For show jumping, entries may be drawn anywhere during the jumping course, including between obstacles and as part of the jumping sequence, travelling from one jump to the other, entering the arena before their round, greeting the judges, showing the horse that spooky obstacle, waiting for the bell, or even exiting the arena after their round. However, at least one jump must be visible in your entry.

-For dressage, entries may be drawn doing any of the appropriate moves in the arena, including the halt/salute, or while entering/exiting the dressage arena.

- All art must be original, created by you, and made specifically for this event - no commissions, free line arts, old entries or free-to-use backgrounds.

- Full tracing and gridding are NOT allowed, however, skeleton-tracing and eye-to-hand referencing is accepted, as long as the references are properly credited. References, considering that they are only used minimally via skeleton-tracing or simple observation, do not have to be stock (if they are, that's great), but please make sure to respect photographers and stock owners. If no reference was used, please state so in your description as well.

- Photomanipulations are NOT allowed. Custom brushes are okay.

- What you draw or write will NOT affect your score – so feel free to draw your horse miss-behaving, refusing or knocking poles, the rider falling off, or anything you can imagine.

- Extra images (additional images of your rider/horse at the event warming up/training/simply hanging out with fellow competitiors) will not you bring points towards the entry, however, they will bring points to your rider/horse/stable's overal seasonal ranking, so keep that in mind. An extra picture that fulfills the same requirements as the entry brings just as many points as the entry itself, while anything less will also bring significantly less. More on that here: HWS Overal Season Ranking. They are of course not obligatory, but encouraged.
