War Horse Diploma Program

The war horse need not be large, but must be strong, brave and agile. The well trained war horse is a highly valued and integral part of the warrior's success on the field of battle.
Program Notes: Remember to read the diploma program basic guidelines on the "equine hub" page before starting. This program will allow for a ride range of historic to near-modern war horses. Due to the rarity of competitions for this discipline, applicants may utilize formal demonstration images instead of show images normally required in a diploma program.

Welcome to...

HARPG International ("HI") is a horse art RPG group that recognizes the value of training and preparation for success for every rider, trainer and equine in our community. Our goal is to encourage members to challenge themselves and have fun at the same time! The centerpiece of HI is a comprehensive series of rider development and horse training and diploma programs.

We except all breeds of equines, both realistic and fantasy. We also except bovines and fawnlings, as long as they are riding or being handled by a humanoid.

News update posted today!
News and Updateshome | registration | point system | stable hub | equine hub | [news] | ask,News & Updates, 07/28/2021 Ok, time for another update as I want to point out some of the specific changes that have been made. I'm really excited about how things are coming together so far and hope you will be inspired too. Registration Updates:- Horses are now divided by gender only (no "young horse" folder as it is too much work to try to keep up with when horses age out of that designation). - Also, use of the point system is now optional. You don't have to have a point journal or point count to register anymore. Just make sure your horse has basic information and submit to the group in the correct folder.Point System Updates:- Main change was making one "base" system, with smaller additions for training, shows or group programs, etc. Before there was a complete new system for each category of activity and it was a lot harder to remember. I *think* the point system should still scale well for the level awards, but we can always watch and make changes if it seems too hard or too easy to level as we go forward.Training Program Updates:- Some of these have slightly fewer images as I took out things like having a whole phase to prep for a show, prompts that didn't add to the program goal or simply made fewer images required for some sections. Each program is still around 5-8 training images which I think should be doable and yet still a notable achievement.- All of the programs allow more flexibility particularly in the last phases to branch into what ever discipline you choose, instead of having a rigid set of discipline-specific prompts.- Awards have been updated and expanded.Diploma Program Updates:- I'm taking out the rider level requirements. I had liked the idea but it was one of several things that was so inconsistently applied across the group that it didn't really make sense, and made participation more complex for the community. There will still be age requirements for different disciplines and levels.- Both training and show are now a part of each level in the re-worked diploma programs. Higher level diplomas may have up to 4 images required.- While we still encourage all training and diploma work to be made specific to this group, previously made images will be considered as long as they meet all program requirements they are being applied to. This is to facilitate plugging existing experienced horses into programs at the correct level instead of necessarily needing to start completely over.Rider Level Updates:- Rider level images do still need to be made specifically for the program. Also we will not be accepting commissions, chibi or lineart for that program.- There are now no restrictions on what horse you can use for the Rider Levels.- There is only one required image for each level in this program now.- More prompts have been added for each level to give you more options and flexibility with how your rider progresses through. There are also more ground/basic care and horsemanship skill included, because being a good rider is more than just what you do in the saddle.Rider of Excellence (RoE) Updates:- This used to be one image you did after level 10. Originally it didn't give any benefit, though later we added a small benefit towards diplomas. Now it has 4 possible levels, with junior riders able to gain a "Junior RoE" award after Rider Level 6. Adult levels start after Level 9 (for Senior Bronze), and Level 10 (for Senior Silver & Gold).- Because I cut all rider levels to 1 image, its actually the same number of images to go all the way through the rider levels and get the gold RoE award as before - its just arranged differently so you can start to earn the RoE benefits earlier.- Awards increase as you work through these awards, but Gold RoE now gives that rider the ability to "pass" or skip 3 diploma images per diploma program (not level) with each horse they bring through.Phew! That was long! I hope that if you were able to read it all (maybe do it in several sessions?) and that it made sense. Let me know if you have any questions about current changes. MistyofSunrise , 07/23/2021Good morning, HARPG community! It’s been a crazy last few years for pretty much everyone, but we hope you are all doing well. I (@MistyofSunrise) am going to be taking lead on this group for now, and you may have noticed some big updates rolling in. We want to refresh and simplify a lot of the programs and how the group works to make it easier both for you and for the admin team. Initial changes have included simplifying registration and the point system, and creating a central diploma approval hub. So far all of the training programs have been revamped to be simpler and more versatile for all disciplines, and are fully operational. We also may be deleting, consolidating and/or simplifying other programs - particularly if they haven’t been meeting a need in the community to date. If you have any ideas or suggestions, we would love to hear it! There is also a "Question Center" for any questions you may have. ~ MistyofSunrise

Sorry to bother everyone, but are the rider levels open? I would like to draw my character completing them, but I don't know whether that program is still active or not.

Is there anywhere a rules journal?

Also, is there no way you would consider allowing heavy tracing?
I put a lot of effort in my pictures, even if they are traced, and I spend hours on them. I like the concept of the group and its diplomas etc, but I cannot do them because you're forbidding my drawing method. I always give proper credit to the original photos.
