The Prisoner -- Eddie by hardcoremiike The Prisoner -- Eddie by hardcoremiike
Second of the Dark Tower Series --- Eddie Dean

Oil on canvas
18 x 24"
8 . 06

Personally, I'm very dissatisfied with it, the features on the guy's how I envisioned Eddie, but too calm. And I really hate the background but was in a rush to finish it with 0 drive in creativity or comprehension in what I was doin. Now that i look at it, it would look better with a grayish background.

Great art. Captures Eddie's anger, sadness, and confusion before he found himself.

I don't see what you have a problem with the background. I do agree about him looking too calm, but overall I love it <3 looks good

i like this a lot, i love the sadness in his eyes, and the almost deadness/blankness of the expression, yet it still looks like he's getting ready for something to happen

again, spot-on with the character. only i pictured him with hazel eyes, but, ehh.
the background isn't too bad, it still suits him great. And I do agree with you, he does look a little too calm for being Eddie.
...I don't have much critique to give, since you already did it yourself ^^
his hair is beautiful, though! oh, my, it's gorgeous!

he does have hazel eyes :)
it looks extra green because the background is so overwhelming it intensifies the green in his eyes, but up close i gave him gold specks exploding out into the green in his iris.

Thank you so much for having the vision to cement these characters. It makes reading the books all that much more pleasureable

I absolutely love his face, allthough he is betraying that unnatural calmness! Will you do Roland as well?

I love the Dark Tower books and was going to start drawing the individual characters in each ka-tet........but I could never match the skill you have for this......

You're incredible......and I hope that I can do that one day.....

I'm wondering what your portayal of Jake is going to look like.....?

Keep it going.....

Not how I pictured Eddie, but still good. I kind of picture him with a bit of a beard, at least at this stage. He was a junkie after all.
By the way, love your art. I'm a fan of the Dark Tower to, who are you doing next?

nice pic but just one thing, wasn't his eyes brown? when roland went "into" him they changed to blue. you have a lot of talent, you picture of Odetta was really wonderful!

Stephen King's been bad about keeping his descriptions the same thru out the books, when Eddie was first introduced in the Drawing of the 3, he was suppose to have hypnotic hazel eyes. It's hard to see in this painting since the green background really grought out the green in his eyes, but they have a mix of gold and dark green in them. :)

I like the background and the fact that you made him rather rugged. *grin* For true Eddie, you really should have done the naked shoot out scene :giggle:

i think this is a great portrayal of eddie, seeing the age he came from and his erm...less than healthy habits in his world

Thanks for the good feedback, but please do let me know which parts arent working together, coz I know this one's really flat compared to the Odetta one. Theres too many colors giving me a headache in this painting mainly coz I couldnt make up my mind on which colors to use. All mean critiques are now welcome :D

 Beautiful Features....incredible work!. I am with you on that face deserving a better background <wink> Maybe you could grey haze that out some and leave some original clor barely breaking through...like a totaly out of focus landscape. I would extend the sky to the entire right upper corner...Maybe that will create some kind of spark...I had a hard time on my last background myself ...:) I love the way you paint....

Finally! :)
If you mean his expression doesn't fully reflect Eddie's cocky nature... I can't critisise you anyway, his eyes are magnetic. They're captivating, unbearably sad and with alive sparkles in them. It's strange, I've imagined Eddie with the same messy hair you showed here. I love it, how can I not? :+fav:
