9/6/25 - I have updated the names of three of our races; The 'WBS Weekly Thoroughbred Flat Race' is now "Weekly 3YO Thoroughbred Flat Race," 'WBS Weekly Oldies Thoroughbred Flat Race' is now "WBS Weekly 4+YO Thoroughbred Flat Race" and 'WBS Weekly Seniors Thoroughbred Flat Race' is now "WBS Weekly 5+YO Thoroughbred Flat Race."

Previous Updates - I have updated the name of this show to include the phrase "Dirt" since these races take place on our Dirt track located in our forestry/mountain range. Keep an eye out for future races hosted at our other two racetrack locations: seaside synthetic and underwater turf!

:star: Interested in more than just racing, cross country, or endurance? Check out our other weekly event: WBS Weekly Show

The deadline for each race entry is every Sunday.

Races will be judged each Monday.

After judging is completed on Mondays, the next set will be open for entries that day, and the cycle will continue thereon.

Please read ALL of the available information prior to entering.

:star: REGISTRATION + RULES :star:

:bulletpurple: No pre-registration required. Just comment on the journal with your entry. Be sure that a link to the show and to the horses reference, as well as the horses age during the race is provided in the images description! (XC and Endurance entries are not req. to provide current age in the form, but their current age should be visible in their ref info so we can verify they meet the age req. to participate)

:bulletpurple:  Starting numbers are not required in your show image- if you want to include one, choose a random number but be sure that no one else whose entered is already using that number!

:bulletpurple: You are welcome to use these races for throwbacks (a race that happened back in time/in the past for your stables canon - when your horse was younger) just be sure to mention you're doing so in the artists description, as well as including the horses age for the race in the race form.

:bulletpurple: Feel free to lease, trace, collab, do digital or traditional work. ALWAYS give proper credit for ref images used!

:bulletpurple: Classes have no minimum or maximum capacity for entries. If there is only one entry, or if there are 15 entries, the class will run as it is every Monday.

:bulletpurple: As of 11/28/16 a "late deduction" will be included for entries posted on Mondays before judging occurs. If they are posted before judging occurs on Monday, 1 point will be docked from their total score. If they are posted after judging on Monday, the entry is entered in the next weeks race without any point deduction.

:bulletpurple: You are welcome to re-use backgrounds, just be mindful of the weather!

:bulletpurple: You must redraw the horse for each class they enter - you can not re-use linearts or use premade linearts.

:bulletpurple: While you are welcome to use AI as a tool (generate images for you to reference for your drawing), you may NOT use AI art in your show entry. The art MUST be drawn by you!

:bulletpurple: Please ALWAYS give credit to ANY references you used! (clickable links are preferred)

:star: CURRENT WEATHER :star:

[Updated May 2026]

*IF the current month is not listed above, notify me immediately!

Unless the current month is listed above, the weather information below is not correct and must be updated.*

Every irl month the weather changes season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) in-game, so be mindful of the current weather!

It is Spring on the Island. The temperature is high of 70(F) with a low in the 40's(F)! The track is muddy from scattered rain showers (it may or may not be sprinkling rain in your entry), and the immediate treeline outside the track still has melting patches of snow about the trees and ground, but as the mountains rise you can see more consistent snow midway up the mountains.

The desert likewise has patches of melting snow strewn about the sand, and it may or may not be raining. The sky may have clouds drifting about, and it's not very sunny.

The beach is free of snow (there is none), and it may or may not be raining on the beach.

The Cross Country/Endurance forestry has blankets of melting snow through the pathways, and likely melting snow atop some trees. It may or may not be sprinkling rain.

Snapdragon Jan Race

:star: BACKGROUND :star:

These races will take place at Whimsical Blood Race Course (dirt track), Pangea Isles.

The race track takes place at the base of a mountain range- where mountains encircle all of the track except for the direction behind the starting gate (that is where people drive in from - otherwise, its a horseshoe of mountain ranges around the track). Beside the first stretch is forestry with mountain ranges in the background (shown here but without the building in the back) and around the first turn to the second stretch is more forestry (shown here but the horses would be facing the other way since these are all Left-Handed races). Our race track has a path that leads up towards the grounds in the direction of the loading gates.

Snow is always seen at least at the summit of each mountain peak- during every season. The forestry that divides the mountains from the race track is pine, and during fall, our pine trees do turn into fall colors- so be mindful of that if the season is fall (the pine trees on our island are special!).

The only part of the mountains that dip below the track is right after the starting gate, beyond that the trees rise upward on a mountain. Behind the first turn of the track is a long expanse of flat land that further out has some trees at the base of mountains, and on the second/final stretch of the track the ground is mostly flat with forestry and mountains behind that forestry.

Wildlife sightings such as grizzly bears, mountain lions, deer, moose, elk, foxes, coyotes, skunks, wolves, birds, Printer the squirrel (closeup can be found here - Printer is female), etc can be found all year round. The racing rail is purple with black posts, the racing part of the track is dirt, with grass inside the track. There are no grand stands, so people stand outside the rail.

*in the event of a tie, an additional RNG will be conducted (via list randomizer) to determine who won- this will be considered a photo finish, and the winner will be listed as winning by a nose, or tied in a dead heat*

~ The Races ~

Grade: All races are graded as "Allowance" races except the Maidens, which are graded as "Maiden."

:pointr: Your horse can only enter a Maiden race if it has never placed 1st before! When a racehorse places 1st, they have officially "broken their maiden."

:pointr: Allowance races are a step up from Maiden races, but are a lower tier than Stakes races.

Location: Whimsical Blood Race Course (dirt track), Pangea Isles. (unless otherwise stated)

Track Surface: Please be mindful of the weather! Usually the track surface is dirt, but depending on the weather the horses could be racing on mud or snow! We also have beach races where the footing is sand!

WBS Weekly Take to The Skies Race (5 miles over our island)

This airborne race flies over our mountain tops and forestry. The race begins on the racetrack, where the competitors are held at bay by a rope (we won't use our starting gate since they likely won't fit with their wings). When the rope drops, the race begins! The competitors then have access to run on the track to gain momentum and become airborne. The competitors will then race 2.5 miles straight out over mountain ranges and forestry. The tallest mountain is the turnaround point, where competitors will then travel back the 2.5 miles from where they came from. Where the treeline ends at the back of the racetrack is the metaphorical finish line. The competitors then have full access to the racetrack to land (keeping to their right hand side of the track).

In simpler terms... imagine watching a horse race where the horses begin running, and instead of going around the first turn, they spring up in the air and fly out 2.5 miles, make a u-turn around a mountain, then fly right back and descend onto the racetrack exactly where they would have been had they only ran around the corner instead of flying off (so they start on the right side of the track and end on the left side of the track).

The racetrack is only for ascending and descending - the actual start/finish line is the treeline behind the 1st bend of the racetrack (whoever crosses back over the treeline is the winner, they then descend to the track).

~Open to all winged creatures 3+ years old, the race takes place mostly in flight, with the takeoff and landing occurring on our racetrack~
