2015 Melbourne Cup
Ghosts jockey Abhijat kept close to the white mare during this race, hovering over her neck and not asking much from her, just letting her set her own pace. Something didn't feel quite normal with her run this go round. Training sessions had shown normal results, and nothing occurred that would raise suspicion for the jockey Abhijat or her trainer and owner, Dallas. However, now there was a very faint indication that Ghost wasn't doing too well. Her spirits seemed to be low, and though her ears were perked forward in the joyful way that they always were during a race, Ghost's jockey could tell that the mares heart just wasn't in it this go round. She usually always shot to the front to settle as a front runner, but here she was lying in the pack, not so much racing, as much as just strolling along with her friends. Behind them came the sound of hoof beats on the turf, accompanied by the hellish racers on the track today, The Gremlin and WPF The Apocalypse. Abjijat pushed the mare now, but she remained consistent, seeming distracted in her thoughts, and unaware of the dangers creeping up on her tail.

The Apocalypse busted out of the gates along side The Gremlin and WBS Ghost hour, Ghost was ahead by some feet but not very much. Apollo's attention was on the stallion running along side, she could tell just by how he ran that he was competition and not only that, but much like her, he had his own anger. Apollo's head tossed and pulled against the bits, demanding MJ to give her more rein and allow her to out run this fowl grey stallion but MJ kept firm, not wanting the red mare burn herself out on the competition. Apollo chomped so loudly on the bit that MJ could hear it over the hoof beats and announcers, the chestnut and dapple grey, battling it out, head to head as they galloped along the turf while remaining aside one another. Apollo wasn't oblivious to the ghostly mare's strange behavior, usually she was quick to get to the head of the pack but this time around, she was calm as ever and seemed to be strolling? Apollo didn't know but would find out, just not now. Her head twisted to the side and she tried to get a chunk of the grey next to her but instead had her head pulled and yanked back into place, the mare flared her nostrils and nickered loudly out of anger and pain. Her lower jaw throbbed from the sudden motion, though it was her own fault, she still felt some anger towards her jockey. Snorting loudly while pinning her ears, MJ gave her more reins and that was when the mare shot off towards the front. Just as they were coming towards the first turn, Gremlin was on her tail and just as mean. The devil red mare threw her head and then tried to cow kick the stallion who was approaching her rump but by force of her jockey somehow manage to regain her steps and continue forward. It wasn't long before both the dapple grey and chestnut approached the white mare who suddenly picked up pace but not by much, oblivious to the two angry thoroughbreds racing close behind her, it wasn't long before Apollo finally passed Gremlin but only because MJ gave her enough reins to move up some paces. It wasn't long before she was next to WBS Ghost hour, ears pinned and teeth showing as she pulled against the bit. Ghost seemed occupied with her mind and not noticing that the red mare had passed her with pinned ears, soon followed by the dapple grey stallion, The Gremlin. It seemed the battle was between Apollo and Grim, two angry thoroughbreds who should be classified as aggressive and unable to race but here they were, proving their worth and battling it out as they galloped over the terrain, head to head. It was hard to tell who would win this race but it seemed that the two didn't care, it seemed they were fighting each other and trying to prove who was better rather than fighting the other horses. An offspring from these two would surely be an interesting twist but thankfully, no such things were planned...yet. The future for Apollo was bright and her career was going strong.
