"It's been determined that irl Tbs do not carry SB-1, but rather various W genes. For HARPG sake, we will continue to allow Sb horses to be registered, however we are giving everyone the option to change their Sb registered horses to various W genes - please just contact the group if you'd like our color record of them to be edited in our Registration books."

The Genetics Behind Pure Thoroughbred Colors

Star! Sabino has it's own version of "Coon Faces" (also found on Frame Overos) commonly seen on Arabians and Clydesdales: Arabian Example , Clydesdale Example But it can also be found in various other breeds that display Sabino.

Based on what I've been researching, Thoroughbreds have a very unstable KIT that mutates often, and they aren't actually "sabino-1" but various forms of sabino-like "dominant white"/"white spotting". Sabino-1 is actually uncommon and yet so closely related to the rest of the white spotting genes that they all appear alike.

I understand for HARPG purposes, its impossible to change every sabino TB to the correct gene. Much less try to educate about the extremely unstable genes that make up most white spotting patterns. But, figured it might be an interesting topic of discussion for educational purposes. Have you been able to locate any research regarding tested sabino-1 Thoroughbreds? I'm genuinely interested in the subject, KIT is mindblowing to me.
