"Ive decided to have Player at his first full show. Were going to enter him in the show down at Hickory Ridge." Jen said tiredly, leaning over her desk with her head kept up at the temple by her index finger and at her jaw by her thumb.

"So what are we going to be doing about the whole rider-handler issue?" Kayla, whom appeared tired but not nearly as tired as her mom, was sitting across the desk in a chair. Though the roller computer chair was comfortable, she leaned forward off the edge of the seat barely on it, elbow on knee, jaw cupped and held up by her hand, her back arched. Her free hand lay limp between her spread legs.

"I am going to be riding Player in Western Pleasure and after some training I would like to get him in the Reined Cowhorse. Maybe other events.. Reining and Team Penning possibly.

"What about me?" Kayla looked up from the floor to meet her mothers eyes with slightly dull intrest. She didnt have her heart into shows so much now that she couldnt ride her retired Mare, WBS Ugly Betty Babe.

"Your entering Ka$h in Team Penning with me. Maybe we can throw Skippy at some barrels or poles-and if not, it would still be nice to bring her along anyway just for the hell of it, she could keep the boys company. I was hoping we could have Dolly trained up before the show but she is not anywhere near ready for a show."

Kayla nodded solemly. "Alright. I will take him out tomorrow for some practice runs and let me know if were getting Skippy in or not. What about the foals?"

"I will ask Derrek to handle Hooligan and as for the others, they will just be there to be there, like Skippy-they need to get used to the busy enviorment. Think I should enter Riff in the Stallion Halter?"

"Nah, let him enjoy his retirement." Kayla finally relaxed into the chair, leaning back and resting her arms on the arms of the chair. Her neck ached from her previous position. A dull, thick pain. "Hey mom?"

"Yeah?" Her green eyes lifted to meet the equally colored eyes of her daughter.

"What about Slinger?"

Player was primped and ready to go. Jen hadnt warmed him up today in fear of him losing energy since he had been enrolled in several events. He was polished, well fed and rested, saddled, mounted, and ready to go.
As their number was called, Jen and Player made their way into the arena, going through their routine. Jens mind was afar, though, and Player was doing most of the work by memory. Slinger. She had been neglecting Slinger. Suddenly Player tripped and jolted, but moved streight back into his canter. Jen cursed "shit" breathlessly and prayed none of the judges had noticed. They didnt seem to have, so she began to breathe again, and put on a smile, urging her stallion to move on.
