Breeders Cup Classic

Description

Okay so a quick note. I drew the wrong background. I drew the 2014 location for the Breeders Cup Classic instead of the 2015 location because I didn't do my research and the inspiration video I linked in the show journal was to the 2014 race, as I usually link a video to the race the previous year for inspiration. I assumed that the race was held at the same place as it was last year, and because I did not do my homework, this happened. I do not judge my own entries as if they are my own. I judge them like they were anyone elses. So because I basically broke a rule and drew the wrong location, I will be docked 2 points, as well as being docked from whatever score out of 10 the judges decide to give me for my effort on the background. Now, onto the show info.

 2015 Breeders Cup Classic

A lot was resting on Dallas's shoulders now. The Breeders Cup Classic was Ghosts last hurrah, so to speak. Though she would be entered in many races to come, and possibly even the Breeders Cup Classic next year, this was her shot to prove that WBS Ghost Hour was worth all the talk. The Breeders Cup Classic had always been the next step after their failed Triple Crown attempt. Though Ghost returned home the extraordinarily proud winner of the Preakness, their run at the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes wasn't enough to win 1st place in either race. Dallas couldn't say that she regretted entering her mare, how couldn't she? It was a once in a life time chance, and they were far from unsuccessful in the three races. Though the Kentucky Derby was less fortunate for them, where they placed 4th in a field of 12, the Belmont was a close 3rd. A 1st, 3rd, and 4th in three of the largest races known to Thoroughbreds was more than enough to make Dallas glow with pride for her white filly. But she admittedly wanted more. She wanted WBS Ghost Hours name to be burned in the memories of everyone in the race horse industry. WBS Ghost Hour was her obsession, her reason at this point for anything. The filly had admittedly made her rich, more so than any other horse she had owned or trained. And something like that, especially for someone so young in the industry as Dallas was, made her go insane with stress and disbelief. Dallas was forced into a world much larger than she was used to, pitted against the top dogs and expected to soar when she felt heavy and awkward among the stars as any underdog would. She was not greedy, she didn't race for the winnings. She raced for Ghost, so the filly could create a name for herself. And this is exactly what she had done.
Ghost was a character all on her own, as always. Her gait was light and boyant, as if she was dancing on air rather than trotting into the gates. The filly was well behaved, but rather loud, calling out loud whinnies to the other horses in hopes of a friendly response. Her sides quivered with every call, shivering as the noise rocked the overly friendly fillies body. She was in heat, but even now, was far from "mareish" or bitchy. If anything, she wanted more attention now than she ever had demanded before. And she would be damned if no one heard her. When the gates opened, she pushed herself forward, propelling into the group of horses who managed to group together around the first turn. Her ears were forward as she ran, her head up and alert and ready to cooperate with her jockey. Abhijat didn't ask anything from her now except to keep an even pace in the middle of the pack. And so she did, for the majority of the race, occasionally slipping ahead of the pack only to be brought back again by a gentle hand. She was used to being a Front Runner, but Abhijat was told by Dallas to keep her back and see what this stirred inside the spirited, ambitious mare.

Mike Buckley was an amateur of all amateurs when it came to training and owning a race horse. He was a great jockey, but the best part about him was that he could stay on the psychotic ones. He otherwise lacked skill and tactic. His only horse was WBS Questioning Faith, whom he had always been the sole jockey of. Joseph Simpson had gifted the filly to Mike Buckley when training her had seemed impossible for the old man and Mike, being so young and willing to work as well as interested in the filly, seemed like a perfect fit. And so it came to be that WBS Questioning Faith, the filly from hell, fell into the possession of Mike Buckley, the nobody jockey. Well, that nobody managed his way into the Breeders Cup Classic with his filly, and how? Mike didn't care. They did it and that was cool enough for him. He had always trained WBS Questioning Faith as a sprinter, so this was out of the ordinary for them. However, they had placed favorably in their last race, 2nd in a field of 16. The two still had little respect in the racing industry, however. WBS Questioning Faith tolerated Mike, but everyone else was a target for her constant aggressive behaviors, and she was not scared to lash out at anyone, equine or human. After much thrashing around, WBS Questioning Faith was loaded in the gait. She screamed out threateningly, slamming her front hooves against the loading gate and even kicking out at the gate behind her, almost knocking it off it's hinges. She bared her teeth at the air, ears pinned. She wanted to sprint, she wanted to pass everyone and rub it in their faces. When the gates opened, after what seemed like an eternity of waiting and ill tantrums from the gray filly, she was finally released from the gates mimicking a bat out of hell. She did what she was good at- she shot to first and tried to burn all of her energy in the sprint. Mike held her back with a heavy hand, and she faught him, kicking out and tossing her head, throwing her front half up in an almost mid run rear. "You damn brat! Straighten out!" He shouted at her. She squealed at him, infuriated that he was holding her back, and did everything she could to fight him and catch up with the herd that was now leaving her behind. She fought and she wasted her energy every buck of the way.

Love it! Thank you for the feature, and it's beautiful even with the wrong background. :D
