A few sketches later from my H-Pig Sketch#1 submission, I actually sat down and painted. 6 hours later, I was happy to say I was finished. It was quite a well planned painting, in comparison to many other things I'd done in the past, and I've not done this much prep for a finished product for years (back to when I did my GCSEs). Also the preparation (drawings, sketches, and test paintings - though only on rough paper and not trials on canvas) I'd done all helped me create what I'd been looking to produce - but I still need to practice more and that is the why I'm doing another one.
Of course, having randomly acquired a painting, I randomly got the urge and just splurged into it with paint and brush. Which ended up being an okay looking image, at least at the moment. Although continually progressing into a better picture it has previously waned between better and worse looking states. As seen in White Cob Stages #1, you can especially see the progression of how I've been doing the nose and nostril - which is good because it was after the first stage that I started doing more detailed sketches because it did NOT look right. It's gone from there.
I'm not sure if I'll get the end result I want, but I think this finished product will look better than H-Pig. Project #3 will then hopefully look better than White Cob.... Project #4 looking better than Project #3... and so on... and so on.
