I'm personally not impressed by the sudden urge by creative companies to be politically correct in their properties only to make more money from gender, sexual or ethnic minorities. It isn't really about the story you're trying to tell at that point if you HAVE to have a gay character in a story even if it has, in no way, any effect on the main character's plot. Not that my opinion matters, plenty of families, including same sex, are going to pay to take their children to see the film anyways because it's Disney and Pixar.
