The Symphonic Reversal Part 3

Chapter 1: The Hollow Hum The gates of the Fort creaked shut behind Kalo, the sound echoing like a tombstone being slid into place. He didn't look back at Sunniva or the scholar Skor. He couldn't. Behind his spectacles, his eyes were narrowed, his brain already miles away, running the calculations across the shimmering salt-flats to the Brass-Clan Oasis. By the time he reached the outskirts of his home, the moons were high. The Great Harvester—a massive, rusting windmill designed to pull moisture from the air—stood silent. Around it, the tents of his people were huddled together like frightened animals. "Kalo returns!" a voice cried out. It was Mizik, the Clan Elder. He hobbled forward, his scales a dull, dusty grey. Behind him, dozens of thirsty Kobolds emerged, their eyes bright with the desperate hope that only a savior can provide. Mizik reached Kalo, his breath hitching in a dry, rattling wheeze. He ignored the formalities, his claw trembling as he pointed to the

The Court of Nine Lives

How many hundreds of years has it been since I laid eyes on our patron deity? I can still see that moment as clearly as the scorched spots in my retinas. Admission into the Court of Nine Lives isn’t voluntary, Ilene. My role was predetermined, and my brother but an inevitable casualty in a cosmic war without borders. Intermission The Court of Nine Lives “Oh, for heaven’s sake, how the hell do you keep catching them?” Itrit spat as his brother scooped up another fish about the size of his arm and dropped it into the bucket at his feet.  “I keep telling you, little brother, just because you’ve got bait at the end of your line doesn’t mean the fish’ll come biting.” He said, slipping a silvery hook through another chunk of meat and casting the line into the water.  “What in the devil’s name do you mean?”  “Look.” He pointed to Itrit’s fishing rod, which sat alone, crooked, under the seat of their small wooden rowboat.  “So?”  “So, we’ve been out here three full hours, and you

LILY AND THE BOG DRAGONS MOOD/SYNOPSIS

LILY AND THE BOG DRAGONS MOOD SOUNDTRACK/SYNOPSIS WRITTEN on Jan 22nd, 2026, at 10:07am… NOTE: This is not my own soundtrack, but rather a collection of songs that I thought worked well in a custom playlist on my iPhone. This is used to set the mood throughout the story, and it is what I use when writing Lily and the Bog Dragons. All songs and rights belong to their original owners respectively, and no copyright infringement is intended. If you want to understand how the mood works, follow the sequence and listen to the songs either on YouTube or iTunes to understand what kind of a story I wish to write. FURTHER NOTE: Any selection that says NO MUSIC is set as only-dialogue with no background music. In other words, silent moments in a hypothetical movie/motion comic. I’m only working with what I can draw, not what I wish to visualize on a big silver screen. That’s for the future to decide. EXTRA NOTE: This is the synopsis of the story. Some parts of the plot are left out to keep this

FoV | Beat Down | Battle

Afastr let out a grunt, stomping a hoof hard against the ground. He could feel the look leaf litter slip beneath his hooves, making it hard to grip at the ground, hard to keep his traction and footing. Fighting was hard enough but on loose uneven ground? This was a nightmare, "Atleast it's not snow" he grunted to himself, taking a few slow steps back. He watched Haust, green eyes fixed on his opponent. He could do this, it was basically like any other fight he had ever been in, "I'm not your enemy kid" he huffed, his back stiff in anticipation. Haust looked at him with wild eyes and a puffed up chest. Rut made him feel many things, eagerness, heat beneath his skin and the insane need to beat down anyone and anything that may get in the way. He had seen the shining stag alone in the trees, there was no one else around and his blood was running hot. There was nobody else. His nostrils flared and he stamped his feet, swinging his rack back and forth in a decently threatening manner.

Afastr let out the biggest, most exasperated sigh that he could muster. He was rather tired. He didn't know how long he had been listening to these two, but from the sounds if things... it wasn't going to end quickly. He flicked his ears and pulled them back against his head, glancing quickly back and forth between them... he hoped things wouldn't come to blows, but if they did? He would have to split them apart and put them in the dirt before they harmed one another or him for that matter. Starling growled low in his throat, ears pinned back against his skull. He faced Osprey, shoulders tense, muscles taught. The enemy standing right before him. Watching him, mocking him, smirking in his face. "Shit your pipe hole she devil!" He stomped a hoof, keeping his gaze on her, though he did glance across at Afastr from time to time. He couldn't stand the mocking, the disrespect, it would come to a head soon if it didn't stop and truthfully? He wasn't going ro allow her to get away with it

FoV | Grass is always Greener | NPC Battle

Magus could feel his knees wobble with each shaky steo that he took, the terrain rough and uneven under his hooves. He was tired, his lanky, thin form leaving nothing to the imagination. His eyes tired, face thing and even his ribs visible along his sides. Ash even covered his bright blue pelt, making it look dull and dark, but still he forged in, determined but rather frightened as well. He didn't want to stop, even with the sun beating down across his back... he couldn't let himself stop. It was the farthest from home he had ever been, but he knew right around the next corner? Right across the next hill? Things had to be better. His ears slicked back as he crested the next hill, feeling the rather shift and fall out from beneath his feet. He ket out a cry of shock and surprise, a squeal really as he toppled head over heel, tumbling right down the side of that hill. He couldn't stop himself, legs flailing about until finally... he came to a stop in a bush. His whole body hurt

[MB] vs. Dhoti

A cry thundered across the battlefield. Aardwolf! Polemistes stopped dead in his tracks - he looked worse to wear, coat smeared in blood and dirt. He had been supporting his pride on the front lines with vigor, no matter how futile it would seem. But he had also heard of Dhoti, an aardwolf scout who raced between the battling cats with nothing holding him back, spreading information like a wildfire. And he was making the lives of Ardhi unnecessarily difficult. "He's mine!" Polemistes roared, taking off into a sprint. He was much larger, and had to be careful to not slam into a fighting cat and lose his tempo, whereas the aardwolf was nearly unhindered and practically seemed to fly. Still Polemistes caught up, and with a cry, he pounced. OUTCOME: FAILURE Unfortunately, he missed; Dhoti dodged to the side, last minute, leaving Polemistes to land paws outstretched on the ground. Before he could react, another cat stumbled over him and fell, causing him to be buried beneath a

[MB] A moment of bravery

CW: Violence, death Poison-Anthem War. The very idea sent a shiver down Angin'spine. She almost debated not even leaving her humble den while the cries of these strangers still echoed through Daraja. But an aardwolf had to eat. The small creature slunk between the huge bones and rocks, her fringe vibrating with nerves. "Just something quick" she whispered to herself, her eyes darting back and forth through the mist of the shadowland morning. "Just a bite. And then right back home." Angin knew she was a coward. She was a small beast with no true fighting skill. She was no use in a war. The aardwolf shivered, her tail twitching anxiously. The sound of war was certainly bad luck. Ratfur Polemistes was having a good day. A leopard had crossed his path, and suffered the consequences for it without as much as a scratch on his pelt. He made his way deeper into the lands since, and had now landed himself on the border of the Shadowlands. Things were about to get interesting. He

[MB] vs. Unoffical NPC 3

The lion was an easy kill, easily put into the ground and snuffed out, but not without a lot of noise. Polemistes reared his head, noticing that someone was coming his way to avenge their fallen pridemate. Was that not what Polemistes was doing now? He snarled, lashing his tail. An eye for an eye. How many Ardhi soldiers had fallen to Pridelander claws? Far too many. From the beginning to the end, this would be a quest for revenge. For vengeance. For his starving fathers, for his fallen friends. Polemistes roared, and charged towards the other lion, who reacted quickly and picked their pace as well. In the middle, in the tall grass, the two collided, grappling and snarling for the upper paw, out for blood, for the kill. OUTCOME: FAILURE Polemistes slammed into the grass, struggling to get free - he managed to hook a claw into his opponent's lip and twist, causing them to jump free with a pained roar. Now he had an opening, he jumped to his paws, backing up to create some distance

The Eagle's Eye - 5

The erratic clacks of the quarterstaves was what allowed Whart to bring his eyes out of hiding from behind his hands; the elf had fully expected Shinny eat dirt on the third blow, but nearly 10 minutes later Shinny was still upright and parrying Greyeye’s attacks with relative success, wincing with every blow, even if they were delivered by him; more impressive was that Shinny even managed to get in a blow, invariably on Greyeye’s quarterstaff, but a blow none-the-less despite his dancing about. After a tense round of feinting and parrying, Greyeye decided to liven things up; he licked the palm of his hand, and ran it over the top of his head, glancing once or twice at his adoring audience. “Greyeye! Greyeye! Greyeye!” they responded happily. “Showoff …” Plink muttered under his breath. With another expert twirl of his quarterstaff, he took a step back at the same time he lashed out, his staff deliberately stopping mere millimeters from Shinny’s nose; Shinny’s

The Eagle's Eye

The Pig’s Nose… …it was a pub, of course. It was the kind of pub, in fact, where adventurers went to drown their sorrows, celebrate their victories, deaden their nerves or brains before, during or after an escapade; invariably dark, dirty, and hazed heavily with smoke the pub was usually crammed with characters of all kinds and all races., no questions asked. In fact the only kind of individual discriminated against in The Pig’s Nose was a sober one. Adventurers spat on the floor or on each other, drank their ales or somebody else’s, fought with others and now and again with themselves; the odor of spilled lagers and ales mingled freely with the reek of sweat-stained clothing and unwashed bodies, but who cared? Songs, bawdy, rowdy, sad, love-smitten … they could be heard at nearly any hour of the day or night, blending harmoniously or otherwise, and lending backup to whatever argument, fight, or loud boasting happened to be going on at the time. In short, it

The Eagle's Eye - 7

“Y’know something about spring in th’ Zids? It rains! Every day! Hard!” Thistlewind said; the coffee was beginning to kick in, Plink could tell; Thistlewind’s leg was bouncing up and down frenetically underneath the table. Plink nudged Bettel whose head was leaning against his hand, his eyes drooping shut from moment to moment. Whart snorted himself awake. Plink murmured, “Are ye ready for another ale?” Bettel nodded absently and Plink raised his hand; Grenda nodded. Thistlewind went on, “Piddly little streams ye didn’t even give a second glance to became massive rivers or rage - ragin’ torrents … gods …” _________________ “Y’know … I think I prefer the rain to the snow,” Plink said. On either side of him Shinny and Whart turned their heads enough to glare briefly at him. Next to Shinny, Bettel sighed, and slowly shook his head. It was raining heavily enough to make the surrounding scenery, such as it was, appear washed out, hazy. This in turn forced the

This Life, This Love

To Grief, Betrayal, and Heartbreak, i.e. pain that only comes from having the audacity to love, you might be a fate worse than death, but what's better proof that we lived― when we're all fated to die―than the fact that we loved? To endure such pain, yet still look up to that one speck of light amidst the storm, it doesn't make me feel happy it makes me feel human, something that can feel the best and worst and live to greet death. I've never been more painfully alive and perfectly human. I love that I love.

An example of this is Queen Aquatica Avalon, who is one of the more unusual members of her family. Aquatica was born to Empress Blackrose and a Sea Pony explorer, Deep Dive, in the underwater nation of Aquastria. Deep Dive came from a family line of explorers, historians, and researchers, and when he grew older, he started treasure-hunting, yet always made sure to respect the environment and the locals whose lands he explored. On one expedition, he encountered a disguised Blackrose, who was looking

The Gaming panel was taking place in a larger room than the one in the Animation panel. In fact, upon closer examination from the inside it looked much bigger than it should be on the outside. This distortion of space was quickly confirmed by those accompanying them. “This room is built specifically to accommodate Giant creatures.” Victress Vale explained, going by the information she was privy to while co-organising this year’s media convention. “Most rooms and buildings are already designed with that in mind, given the truly great sizes dragons could grow, but sometimes extra space is needed to accommodate big guests, especially in large numbers.” There is indeed a great crowd present. Thanks to Splash Page calling ahead, they were able to secure some of the best seats as VIP guests, a table close to the main screen and the front stage where the panelists would be set up to show their stuff and answer questions.
