Naucrate Class Science Vessel by HandofManos Naucrate Class Science Vessel by HandofManos
Finished the design of the TMP vessel and decided to call it a Naucrate Class science vessel. Naucrate was the mother of Icarus and the wife of Daedalus in ancient Greek Mythology so I think it would fit well as a class name for this sphere in place of saucer ship.

SOme technical specs: it has a type V phaser array, single front fire torpedo launcher a complement of 44 crew members and is capable to carry, in its shuttle bay, 1 type 6 shuttle and a type 15 shuttlepod.

She does indeed I am certain these class of vessels would eventually be sold to the civilian market like the Oberth

With 44 person capacity it will be nice and cosy interstellar RV.

Fine work.  Wondered why a spherical shape was not used more.  Very aesthetically pleasing, plus a sphere has no structural weak points.  Nice job!

They even made a physical model out of my design so I am happy to see more people liking it

I have fallen in love with your little ship. It is so different, original, and smooth much like TOS, while advanced and modern enough for TNG or DS9. Instantly recognizable as a Federation starship. Very nice compact design. If you ever revisit this work, I would suggest making the pylons longer and placing the impulse engines on the pylons much like the USS Voyager to free up some internal space.

Indeed. Can't think of any other designs that have used this type of door.

Very nice design. Would have been interesting to have a short miniseries or TV movie for ships like this. A crew of regular Starfleet officers that rose to the occasion when it was called for.

I think this is a fab design any chance you'll revisit this design and give it the full perspectives treatment like the Masterson Class?

You ought to draw a picture of its bridge. I'm curious to see what it would look like.

A really beautiful ship and great concept. It looks small yet pretty advanced. Most designers make the ships larger
when they're asked to make them look more advanced than anything seen before. I would actually love to see it at
real Star Trek, movie or series. Not J.J. Abrams though, I really dislike what he did to Star Trek.
