Tsumami Zaiku Lotus and Cherry Blossom kanzashi.

I made these of habutae silk, which is the traditional silk for both kimono lining and this kind of art, which is called tsumami zaiku, or kanzashi in English. I like to hand dye my fiber arts, and you can see both of my styles here-- the batch dying (left) and hand painted gradation (right). Both are good for different flowers, and you can get different effects.

I had an interesting requet for two of my made-to-order listings on etsy, so you can see a slightly different version of my sakura design. I like it! It's got a nice balance of light and dark pinks for the sakura, and two tones for the lotus. :floating: it makes for a nice combination, hm?

If you're interested in more tsumami zaiku, why not check out :icontzartisans:? :huggle:

I really like the metallic edges! Thats something I haven't seen in kazashi before.

 yeah, I like that too-- you can control where the colorful sparkle bits go a lot more than when using kimono fabric. :sheepish: glad the look turned out!
