Lilac Kanzashi: Purple and White hairpin

These are some of my favorite kanzashi I made last year! I really loved collaborating with the customer for this design. The smallest flowers are really tiny~ Lilacs also remind me of wisteria, but are still unique. I suppose I rarely see a single stem of lilac because of how they grow, but if you carefully trimmed some for an arrangement, maybe they would look like this. Lilac ikebana~ ^_^

Anyway, I designed and made these original hairpins / kanzashi from hand dyed silk on an ornate clip. The silver stems are on bobby pins, so you can leave them off if you like. The yellow stamens are a fun, realistic touch in place of my usual beads, so I think they make these seem so delicate.

Yay for non-traditional (or at least not that I've seen) kanzashi. What other flowers should I do? :D

Thank you! :heart: I do like making unusual kanzashi flowers-- this one was fun for me to design and bring to life with silk. :nod:

I can agree that these hairpins look like wisteria. The attention to detail is obvious in these pieces.

Thank you! :heart: I definitely see where you're coming from. :nod: I love purple flowers of all varieties, so I'm pleased.

Yes, they really do take a lot of time and care, but it is so worth it when they all come together. :heart: thank you for noticing!

oh wow, this is definitely more like 'Amethyst Falls' Wisteria: japanesemaplesandevergreens.co…

I can see this becoming a super popular design! Which is definitely some we should chat about soon, as I returned with a lot of empty boxes during the last few festivals! ^^;

:heart: that is a really good point. ^^! I think the Wisteria are really beautiful plants, and interesting to try and depict in silk-- the traditional style doesn't really capture the conical form, you're right! Also, this one is definitely a clip design...another plus. ^^ clips are so easy to use for most people.  moonflower

^_^ I need time to make more stuff for you...I have all this chirimen, but not time to use it.  Zero Time

I love this composition. :heart: it's really lovely, and reminds me of ornate Victorian flower borders that you see in illustrations and portraits.
