Mandelbulb 3D Volumetric Light Tutorial by HalTenny

I hope this helps you get started if you're having trouble with volumetric lights. Click the download link on the right. It is a zip file. Within it are several sample parameters in a parameter folder, images and an html file. You have to unzip this file or the images in the tutorial will not display. Once you have it unzipped, click on VL Tutorial.html, and it should open in your default browser. Please fave this if you download it, it's such a little thing to ask to show you appreciate me taking the time to do it. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the tute...... downloaded it and opened it in a folder. Appears you have gone to a lot of work on this tute. Where is the formula for this fractal? What is an m3p file?

You know, I don't mind helping at all. I help people all the time, and that's clearly why I wrote this tutorial. But you have to take a little bit of initiative on your own. If you read the tutorial, you would see that I explain where the parameters are. (...load the tut-start.m3p file from the included parameters folder.) Which also answers your question on what an m3p file is, it's a parameter file. If one just skims through what is written, you are bound to have some problems. I would hope that if you take your time and read through the tutorial, it might be very helpful. It does assume that people have a basic understanding of MB3D, but still should be easy enough to follow.

Naturally, the first tut I picked, not this one, calls for you to open a parameter file that I do not have, nor can I find it. LOL. I need the bottom level, basic how to. Any suggestions?

That should get you going. And don't be afraid to ask questions

The program interface has changed over the version history, but everything in the tutorial is there, you just have to look around a bit.

where is the volumetric light option function please cant see it?

Under the color tab in the main window, you will see a button that says "Dyn. fog on It.:"... If you click on that, it changes to "Volume light nr:" and VL is turned on. Then in the box next to it, you input the number for which light you want to calculate VL for. If you don't find that button under the color tab, then you have to get a newer version of MB3D.
