Forbidden Fruit! In this image, the pollyfolding formula doesn't do a lot unless you zoom out and have a look while changing the variable. You can delete it and still have some decent stuff. Move the pollyfolding to different positions in the order of formulas for different effects too...

AirborneHal, these params are pretty and fun.

I guess I tweaked it, even tho final image looks nothing like the start.  The startup is substantial but my tweaks look all light and wispy.  Idk if I'm zooming in or out too far. Maybe I just tweaked it too much?

If I make a find, but it's horizontal, and I want to turn it, raise it up 45 degrees so the image is like face to face, may I ask, how that is done?

Thank you and have a nice day.

First thing I do a lot of times is reset the fog and Ambient depth to zero. Also raise the far plane setting in the navi window to 500 or 1000 or higher. Now it's easier to navigate without things disappearing on you. To raise a feature up from horizontal to a position of vertical, you alternate between the looking keys or buttons and the walking keys or buttons. It can be tedious. Make sure fixed zoom and steps is selected, click the look down button several times, then the walk up button several times, repeat until the area is facing you. You may have to adjust the view as well due to cutting or other objects getting in the way.

It works.  Very gratifying to have that leverage re: changing a horizontal view to vertical.  Instant cheer! Thanks.

Good info to know.  Now I Know that changing the feature from horizontal to vertical is possible. Yay!  I seem to run across the desire to do that alot, but am so fickle in watching the images that seem to glitter, then off I go on a tangent. lol.

Would you say that you approach a tweak with an intrinsic idea of what you are going to look for, or do you even tweak?  Do you mainly use the formulas, and create from there, and looking for buildings and machines and spaceships, and spaceships. Do you ever look for softer images?

So I will find the reset of fog and Ambient depth to zero.  I'll raise the far plane setting in navigator to 500 or 1000 or even more; this is to promote a good visual of the fractal I am tweaking.  Cool  If I can say it then I likely can do it.  You have been generous in the info you have shared on these questions. TY so very much.  :)

I confess. When I go to do some Mandelbulb tutorials, your tuts. are pinned to my bar, but I downloaded and didn't get very far with that..But,  to the right, are other tuts. and info narratives and I like those just fine.  Tyagain.

By soft, I guess I mean organic.  There may be too much tweaking proportate to too little knowledge so far by me, that many times I seem to have blobs instead of fractals, lol.  So thank you again for all the info here and in your tuts.  You pack alot of knowledge succinctly. :)

95% of my images are tweaks of my own work from anywhere up to 6 years ago. :) I go into each session with a blank slate as far as expectations or an end point is concerned. Though each different style of parameters will obviously produce a similar style image as a rule. So if I load a style that is architectural, well I'll probably end up with another cityscape or building of some sort. I'm not sure what you mean by 'softer' images. But if you mean organic and less geometric, yes, I do those as well, just not as often as I used to.

Thanks man. I don't post as many parameters as I used to, but if you ever see an image you want a tweak at, just let me know.

You gotta love the fogged out background that shows just enough to keep you wondering if something is going to move back there! Another Instant Classic Hal! Great Stuff!

Haven't played that much wity PolyFolds but it takes large Order changes to make a difference from what I've seen. This looks like a good one to learn PFs on, thanks for sharing Params Hal

Thanks and welcome! Yeah, I had the 'order' number high, but depending on what position (formula #) you have it and where you zoom makes a big difference. You can really see the results of the folding in the background more than the foreground...
