--- Pre-Birth ---

The planet of Iego was an enigma to the other nations- the creatures lived for what seemed forever, and time itself was suspended for those who came to the planet. Hoping to learn more, the sith government sent several research vessels down to the planet in order to retrieve organic samples that they could study. Only issue with this was that the ‘angels’ would try to lead any ship that came to the planet towards a tragic crash landing; something the sith hoped to get past by sending many smaller ships before the main vessel, and mounting the main vessel with several safety mechanism to counter act the efforts of the Diathum. Stocked to the brim with devices and safeguards against the angelic Diathum, as well as a few dark jedi for support and shielding, the vessel was able to land on the surface with minimal damage.

Wanting to secure a Maelibus sample, the crew located a small humanoid tribe on the surface of the planet, and with the fake promises of escape on board their vessel they used the tribe members to lure out the carnivorous denizens of Iego, letting the tribe get slaughtered before subduing the hunting party. Once samples of select plants and rocks were also collected, the vessel left Iego with little trouble and returned to the research lab in Muunilinst.

Once back at the research lab, the scientist found it hard to cage all three Maelibi at once. The creatures were extraordinarily strong and very aggressive, making conditions unsafe for the researchers and taxing the holding cell to its limits. Of the three Maelibi taken from Iego, one happened to be a pregnant female, and the sith decided that she was the only one that was required for their research. Executing the others, they left the mother and her eventual baby alive so that they could continue to learn more about the demonic race. Labeling the son DS03, the soon began to use him as a test subject as well.

--- Captivity ---

By allowing the mother and son to live together in a single cell for quite some time, The researchers gave DS03 the chance to learn his native tongue from his mother and to learn the basics of his native race. (As much as one can when in captivity) Monitoring the child’s growth closely, the researchers took tissue and blood samples at regular intervals in an attempt to find out more about their temporal immortality and species biology. Due to being raised in by lab technicians and researchers who spoke galactic common, the young Maelibi learnt how to communicate with their captors. Once the child reached the age of 20, it was decided that the mother was no longer of use to them and they executed her, leaving DS03 in solitary captivity.

Through out his captive life, DS03 was forced to run trials and courses so that his physiology and biology could be studied. Some of the experiments included pain tolerance testing, regenerative ability testing, endurance tests, and many other cruel examinations that drove the poor Maelibi into a deep depression. When not being tested, the sith would use DS03 as a method of executing prisoners or even as an interrogation tool by forcing the comrades of those being executed watch as DS03 tore them apart and devoured them. While not fond of being used in such a way, DS03 had to eat- and the pathetic attempts at fighting back were all the contact DS03 had with others, making each feeding a distraction from his solitary life. Still, after years of the same tired routine DS03 grew weary of his life, and fell into an even deeper rut then before.

During one of his depressive streaks, a Rodian smuggler that had incurred the wrath of the sith was thrown into the cell with DS03 to be executed. Depressed, lethargic, and not that fond of Rodian meat, DS03 ignored the prisoner and continued to mope in the back corner of the cell. Panic stricken and fearing that this would be his last moment to live, the blue skinned Rodian snatched up a picked clean bone from the ground and slammed it down against DS03’s metallic skin. The bone shattered on contact, sending the Rhodian fleeing to the opposite end of the holding cell staring at his demonic cellmate in fright. Annoyed by this attempted attack, DS03 spoke to the smuggler.

“Would you leave me alone? Go away.”

Shocked that this demonic looking creature could speak Standard, the Rodian began to talk with him.

“You’re not going to eat me? Tear me up? Make me beg for mercy?”

“Not in the mood.”

“So when you get hungry…”

“Maybe.”

“Um… Wait! I can make a deal with you! I could, I could… Provide entertainment! Yeah, entertainment. You know, for not eating me. Please?

Craving any interaction at this point, DS03 decided that letting the Rodian live would probably leave him a lot less depressed in the long run. The two started talking, and the prisoner agreed to teach DS03 how to speak his Rodian in return for his life.

Perhaps they were entertained, or perhaps they wanted to study the social aspects of his race, but the sith allowed the Rodian to stay inside of the holding cell with DS03. More prisoners where thrown in to observer if the same thing would occur, but DS03 ended up using their meat for food like the previous ones, tearing out large sections of flash for the Rodian to dine on. It took some time for the smuggler to get used to eating raw meat, but when one gets hungry enough they’ll begin to eat almost anything.

A friendship born of desperation was forged between the two, until it was announced that DS03 was no longer to be used for research. Killing the Rodian, they moved DS03 into a cell section with many other creatures and prisoners, and left him to await his fate. DS03 was just over 60 years old when he was moved out of the research facility and into this mass containment complex.

Unfortunately, DS03 had little time to be depressed about his friends death as the sith began having him fight other prisoners in a makeshift combat arena for the entertainment of the troops stations there. He was still an executioner, but now each of the prisoners thrown to him had a false hope of freedom, some even being pitted against DS03 in groups. Using his massive claws and exceptional strength, DS03 lived the next few decades as nothing more then a spectacle for the military presence and an over glorified killing machine. With each passing day he knew that this lifestyle would lead to a further degradation to his humanity and intellect, and DS03 refused to become nothing but a feral animal. The cells that contained him would become covered in scratch marks that would make out words, stories, art and musings- anything to keep himself sane. Due to the other contained individuals fearing him, DS03 found little escape by way of communicating with those around him.

Soon after hitting 102 years of age, DS03 was once again taken interest in by sith researchers. The Iego project had started up once more on another colony, and DS03 found himself tightly restrained before being loaded up into a transport shuttle to be moved to a new research facility on another planet. Once out in open space, the ship soon found itself under attack by the republic navy; Their extensive information network had discovered that the ship help ‘sensitive cargo’, and would be traveling over republic space with the said cargo. Upon finding DS03 holed up in ship along with several species of animal, the soldiers had no idea what to do. Assume the soldiers couldn’t be any worse then his previous captors, DS03 tried to convince them that he was of no threat, and was being kept in captivity against his will due only to his race. Deciding to keep him contained out of safety for the crew members, the soldiers took DS03 to Coruscant for review.

It was negotiated that DS03 was a sentient species that posed no threat to those around him under normal circumstances; He agreed that he would learn and obey the republic rules, and filled out his identification papers. It was here he shed the title DS03 and instead adopted the name ‘Sovire’, a variation of ‘sovereignty’ as symbolism towards his new found freedom. Feeling a large dept was owed to the republic for freeing him from his enslavement, the Maelibus started life anew as a free being.

--- Freedom --- {Age: 102}

With no where to go and most of his life revolving around fighting and fitness, Sovire felt that the best way to pay off his dept would be to join the republic military forces. After completing the basic training he was placed in the ground forces and began his military career by assisting in minor conflicts and riots around the galaxy. Once his first 5 year tour had finished, he was stationed as a guard on a republic mining platform that was recently targeted by pirates and was considered to be at risk of future attacks. Sovire ends up staying in that position for seven years, becoming friends with many of the miners and learning the language of the main group. After that, he was placed in random deployments and was passed around until he reached 150 years of age and started specializing and training in Heavy weapons.

A few years of study followed by random orders here and there, Sovire eventually became the physical trainer for new recruits while being allowed to keep studying in weapon use. Eventually moving on to train both new recruits and older members in physical fitness, Sovire also moved on in his studies, learning more about weapons, their use and their repair. He kept up with this teaching and studying routine for twenty years, allowing himself to learn about almost every individual weapon available to the republic military, as well as a few not easily accessed.

Eventually Sovire grew bored of this routine and requested deployment with any available unit- anything that would get him out of the training business for now. Placed into a special division of terror prevention, he ends up on Grizmallt due to a civic upheaval on the surface that the planet based military was inadequately prepared for. During this conflict Sovire often found himself using the dead bodies wracked up from the fighting as a meal, moving them out of sight and consuming their flesh instead of eating the rations that he so despised. New recruits never knew why he would eat out on his own, and older members wouldn’t comment. The group stayed together until the death of their corp leader, sending all of the units members back to the Coruscant military HQ. Sovire was nearing his 200th year, and decided to leave the military once his contract was up.

--- Civilian life --- {Age: 201}

After 100 years of military service, Sovire had saved a large portion of the money that was paid to him during his tour. Feeling that Coruscant was to stifling and wanting to see more of what the galaxy had to offer, he packed up the meager amount of belongings he had and took a transport to Aleraan, Aldera. One there, he purchased a small home and took steps to get and know the butchers in the area. Due to his race and unique appearance, it didn’t take long for many of the cities residence to learn of his moving there. Seeing as Maelibi are considered one of the most beautiful races in the galaxy, and Aldera was a place of art and design, Sovire soon found himself making some extra money posing for artists and the like. Once the novelty of his residing in Aldera had worn down, Sovire took small jobs that required a decent amount of strength in order to pay the bills.

After settling into his new home, Sovire enrolled at the great university , taking a military tactics course. Even when living the Civilian life, his thoughts would keep returning to the battle field and towards his past years of survice. After graduating the five year course, he ended up taking a part time instructional on vocal lessons, as to the recommendation of many residents who believed that the melodic and smooth voice of his race could be put to good use with some vocal know how.

Throughout his education and life there, Sovire found himself working part time on one of the bordering farms, helping with the daily chores and moving the large bails from the field. Sadly, his aggressive nature got the best of him and he one day found himself in a heated argument over politics that turned violent. After throwing the man across the bar, many of the locals became afraid of Sovire and avoided him. It was then he decided it was time to move on.

Entertaining the idea of going to Iego, the home world of his species, Sovire decided that he had no place there; Being born else where, there was nothing for him at Iego. Instead, he packed his things and caught a flight to Laritor- not because of any premeditated reason, but because there was a ship headed there at the soonest possible date, and Sovire wanted out of Aldera as soon as possible.

Landing in a small mining city, the population was wary of Sovire due to his demonic appearance. Laying low and doing whatever work he could get his hands on, he slowly gained the trust of the town’s folks by helping out where he could and being generally social. The small town existed inland quite a ways from any other mine, outpost or city. Perhaps it’s for this reason that a sith military group was interested in taking the city and converting the mine to their use, or maybe it was a good central point for their scanning of the recently discovered Sith ruins on the planet; either way, the city found its self with a threat to turn control of the mine to them or face the consequences.

Being self sufficient the city had a small army but no real experience in military combat, so Sovire requested to be allowed to have a say in the plan of their defenses. Seeing as the city had few options, the leaders handed the reigns over to him and let him direct their tactics. Using all of his military and tactical knowledge, he was successful in repelling the small army that the sith sent to overcome the mining folk. This was to the joy of the mining city, and the detriment of the outpost many miles south of them: Due to wanting an easy victory with little resistance, the sith ended up attacking the south mining outpost and using it for their needs instead.

Yet again, Sovire found a reason to dislike the sith, and was once again thrust into a combat situation. It appeared as if he would never escape from the past.

Ignoring the inevitable praise from the victory, Sovire continued his life there by working at the mine, staying in the city for quite a few years with very little happening over all. Time went on, he got bored, and eventually Sovire ended up heading back to Coruscant to do what he did best.

--- Return to the ranks --- {Age: 280}

Still not out of civilian mode, Sovire requested placement as an apprentice assistant under one of the current land vehicle mechanics. Slowly building up his skills and becoming more proficient at mechanics and vehicle use, he eventually moves on to work with both air and land based machines. Sovire stayed in this position for many years, gaining valuable knowledge and skills about the operations of military vehicles.

Eventually Sovire is pulled away from his duties and ordered to join a campaign on Onderon to calm an uprising of insurgents and assist in the reforming of the government and judicial systems in the region. Lasting many years, he ends up staying in Onderon until the end of the republic military assistance, aiding in the projects that would eventually allow that area of Onderon to stand on it's own two legs. Upon turning 322 years of age, Sovire headed back to Coruscant where he took over the position of Advanced units training due to the retirement of the previous instructor.

After almost 20 years of working in this position, Sovire is once again called back into duty as one of the armed escorts on board of a diplomatic ship for Coruscant representatives. Being handed from ship to ship, Sovire ends up escorting many Important figures around the galaxy, making sure that his target is always kept save. On one such trip, things didn’t go as planned and the political figure Sovire was instructed to protect was gunned down during talks. Being targeted by the assassins for being a witness, he and his team mate end up making a break for their ship- with only Sovire making it on board. Watching as his companion gets shot from behind, Sovire is forced to make an emergency lift off, narrowly surviving the whole situation.

Once back on Coruscant, Sovire is chastised for the failure, but due to his many years of service the officials do not doubt his intentions and don’t mark the loss as a deliberate act. Requesting to leave military service after this failure, Sovire takes to civilian life once more while beating himself up over the loss of both the political figure and his assigned partner.

Already 349 years old, Sovire takes a job with a nearby mechanic until one of the frequent customers offers him a job as a personal body guard. Upset at his last attempt at playing protector, he initially rejects the offer. One of his co-workers manages to talk him into accepting the job, saying it will be a way to make amends for what occurred in the past- so the next time the man was getting his ship looked at, Sovire accepted his proposition.

Being employed by a wealthy man had its benefits- food, lodging and a decent salary were negotiated to be Sovire’s pay for his loyalty towards the old merchant. The old man had just entered retirement, but due to his past dealing he feared for his wealth and his family’s life. As Sovire served under the family, he almost became one of them- each member getting to know him well and treating him as a close friend. Sadly, this happy time would come to an end when the merchant died peacefully in his sleep some years later. Much to Sovire’s surprise, the old man ended up leaving him a fair sum of money in his will, in return for his years of service and friendship.

Mourning the loss of a close friend, Sovire leaves employment for a few years, instead furthering his education by enrolling in a few military history courses. Amazed that he has lived for close to 400 years, Sovire looks back on his life and realizes that no matter where he goes or what he does, the art of combat always creeps back into his life and sends him back into the military. The thought of his last military mission still filled his head with negative thoughts, but looking back showed him the multitude of victories as well, causing him to swallow his pride and re-sign up with republic militia.

--- Siringana Unit --- {Age: 398}

Years go by, missions are completed or forfeit, units are moved around, and eventually Sovire finds himself in the office of the military head requesting his cooperation in creating a special ops military unit for pre-combat and tactical espionage deployment. Honored, Sovire is ranked up to the head of the ‘Siringana Unit’- and told to await further instructions about who his team members will be. Waiting and doing some additional training, Sovire is excited about this new opportunity ahead of him, and how the 401 years prior have led up to this moment.
