Hail one and all, please make yourselves at home. This humble corner is dedicated to the collection and curation of all work related to Team Cherry's 2017 metroidvania title, Hollow Knight! Having come here, you're almost certainly already familiar, but if not, you can educate yourself here. A few rules dictating how this group operates: - Membership is currently open to all. - Any and all members are able to freely submit artwork to Lurien's Mailroom, wherein it will be reviewed and categorized into one of our existing galleries. - Please be aware that although submissions to Lurien's Mailroom are automatically approved, you are limited to submitting three pieces per day; furthermore, our inner circle of curators reserve the right to discard any artwork they find to be offensive, inappropriate or otherwise undesirable. Rest assured that these standards are lax, but they do exist. - We will not feature pieces that were not uploaded to DeviantArt by their creator or owner (i.e. commissioner). - I'm sure this goes without saying, but please be nice. Violent husks are not welcome. The galleries explained: Featured: "Promoted, aesthetically pleasing artwork as dictated by the cretinous whims of the privileged upper class." Relatively self-explanatory, an old stand-by for most of DeviantArt's groups. Canonical Exhibition: "Official artwork produced by Team Cherry." This space is reserved for images produced by Hollow Knight's developers. Please remember our fourth bulleted rule of thumb. Decadent Ballroom: "Compositions depicting scenes and/or multiple characters." Pieces requiring more space for dramatization are moved to the ballroom. Thrilling combat scenes, a moment of quiet reminiscence between friends and virtually anything with a detailed background belongs here. Portraiture: "This gallery contains artwork focused around solitary characters." The designated space for studies of individual heroes, friends and foes. Single-character artwork with minimalist background belongs here. Pleasure Theatre: "Gallery oriented towards humorous artwork." More light-hearted material, including comedic comic strips, slapstick and any such buffoonery should be kept to the confines of the Theatre. Unsung Heroes: "Gallery featuring non-canonical Hallownest personages." All artwork featuring OCs, FCs and other characters not represented within the game is to be archived in this gallery. Miscellanea and Sundry: "A disordered heap of pieces that don't conform to any currently existing gallery." Interface customization, patterned designs, fan-fiction, edits, dank memes and other less conventional work will be listed here until their volume warrants a gallery of their own. Lurien's Mailroom: "Wherein incoming submissions are sorted and redistributed." A member wishing to have their work listed in the galleries should submit such items here to be categorized and admitted. Oh dear, it's been over a year since our last journal post. Sorry for the lack of correspondence! Until this point, all group submissions have been curated and manually categorized mostly by your truly, Flavor-Savior. However despite my early attempts to curb flooding, our Lurien's Mailbox gallery is overflowing with new submissions that I haven't been able to comb through, for lack of time, patience or inclination.
I'd like to offer my apologies for this negligence on my part. Given how the fan art scene for Hollow Knight has ballooned and our manual approval process is evidently no longer sufficient, I'll be letting go of the reigns and opening up submissions for all individual galleries besides Featured and Canonical Exhibition! Lurien's Mailroom will also be closed for all further submissions until the prophesied occasion that it finally stands empty. Despite this, I expect you all to be on your best behavior; to follow the rules that our forefathers have carved out upon the ancient shells and slabs which still stand tall over the subterranean passages of Hallownest to this day.
I will be irregularly contributing to moving artwork out of the mailroom for the foreseeable future, but if you have any questions or concerns or potential violations to report, I am also available on the Hollow Knight official Discord server, which you can join here!
