“As difficult as it is to accept, it is the truth that everything is just as it should be,”
He watched as the horizon burnt, a colossal mass of rising smoke covering the skyline, dark as deep waters, looming over the land viciously, announcing what had been destroyed. His past, his present, his future.
As if to toy with him, destiny had played its part on getting the Guardian far enough from the territory before Ademache bestowed his last burning gift upon Havir. He had seen it all from afar, watched in complete helplessness as the sphere of burning flame pierced the clouds tore the sky apart before crashing against the holy lands with the wrath and might of a living demon.
At first, there was panic, beating inside his chest strong and vivid. But then...

He looked over his shoulder, checking the movement behind and around like a suspicious cat. Silence. They barely paid him notice when they were not offering judging or suspicious eyes - he was unimportant, and at a certain point he was grateful for the peace. His lips felt dry as he bitterly concluded his concern about being intercepted in his way to her. Would someone intervene? Chase away the monster that tore her heart to pieces? Ragnor drew a heavy breath, sending puffs of smoke on the air - Spring was there, but it was not like it had much effect on Highvalley’s temperatures - and licked his lips as he looked forward.
He was afraid. All around.
His recent actions, his future actions, his current ones. It was all a break of character. A decision that sounded so obviously correct and straightforward, but at the same time absolutely uncharacteristic. Vlad had understood him - of course he did. The br

As the reddish female launched herself forward in an attempt to avoid him, Jerikoh released a snarl of warning. Don't make this more difficult than it needs to be, Seven. Despite his internal plea, he knew better than to hope for an easy defeat. The she-wolf was a strong and proud member of Aryn--she would not let an enemy harm one of her own without putting up a fight.
So it was a fight she would get.
For a brief moment, he caught a glimpse of Heel approaching them. Relief washed over him, knowing that the two of them would have no trouble dealing with the fleet-footed she-wolf. But the Warlord soon turned his attention on Adrian, who was charging towards the scene. Jerikoh would have to take care of Arynian himself.
The Baron knew Seven was faster than him, and should he let her rocket past him, he would have no hope of catching her. He had to act quick

Spring. It seemed the perfect time for life to blossom anew, as the world did. He was just not prepared for his own little flower to be also blossoming into a fully functional adult. Almost adult. They had picked a good day for her to start into this whole new world, however, and the Vicar didn’t really have anything to use as argument to be against this. The sky was clear, there was no sight of any of the Winter’s cold grasp that turned everything slippery, and their party was full enough to deal safely with the situation.
He was not too worried with the strangers, too, as weird it might be for him, though he was definitely not one hundred percent comfortable. Athena requested for them to come, and there was no way he could protest without sounding rude. Maybe it was meant to be.

The day was not going as efficiently as the Lord Cobra had planned. Hekate was preoccupied with business - an important venture he dare not question. But somehow or another he had ended up with Helh trailing after him rather than in the paws of a lower-ranked nanny.
Internally, he griped about it. You could not get very far with a teedling pup stumbling after you, and he had business of his own to tend. But she was too young to be reprimanded about such things. And too old for him to coddle her by carrying.
In his days as a lesser being, Janus might have stewed himself into a fit of rage over such an inconvenience. But he knew better now. In spite of the setback she represented today, bonding with his blessed child could ultimately be a good thing, the ghosts were quick to remind Janus. His breath shook as he entered camp, his golden eyes wide and simultaneously blank and filled with awe all in the same moment. His chest heaved as he quickly scanned the den, his heart filling with concern at the state of it. He had noticed an illness creeping in on him since a few days prior, but he had ignored it, figuring it was just a cold brought on by countless nights in the open, but it seemed he was not the only one afflicted.
Had so much changed since Miron first took leave into swamp? He hadn’t even left the territory, and even came across Phaeton that once, but perhaps he had been gone too long. Were the Gods mad at him for taking such a long time to find this new place? Surely not. His mind wandered as he searched for the Mistress. Had he found a healing place? She insisted, but the wolf wouldn’t move. She knew he was dead. But between all this chaos, all she hoped was that due to some incredible miracle, she’d be wrong. The sky was still painted grey, ashes falling everywhere like a depressing winter as the river snarled furiously near them… Merrill couldn’t understand. Everything was fine, everything should be fine. But it wasn’t anymore.
It was fresh in her mind: the loud bang, the life all around being swallowed by a frightening amount of smoke, the yelling. Mom disappeared in the fog with aunt and uncle, and she remembered the boys cryings disappearing in the distance while she and father coughed and fought to leave the sea of grey.
With a helpless yelp, she curled against Cormac’s cooling form as tears began to roll down her cheeks. He was trying to drink when he passed

It was loud.
There was a shrill ringing in the air. There were horrified, desperate cries emerging from the smoke. The shrieks of a frenzied pack of condors circling overhead showered down upon them. His lungs were full of dust and his pelt was littered with rubble and stone. He opened his eyes but he saw only a heavy mantle of grey smoke.
He saw no Havir.
Before he could gain to his paws his raspy voice broke through the air, joining the call of the Havirians, each struggling to make sense of what was happening. “Ira!” Faust was gripped with fear. Frantically he searched the smoke for her white form. He couldn’t smell, he could not see, and he could scarcely hear. But he needed to find her, “IRA!” Where was she? Where was Silvanus, his brother, his nephew, the pack? Were they safe? Were they alive?

The day was bright and warm as Saurugol made his way down the mountain, flanked by his closest friend Tilika. They had spent the morning and early afternoon tending to the pathways that lead to Ademalik’s Cavern, making sure that it was still passable. There was a bit of an eerie feel to the path, the Alpha felt, for the last pair to climb was Malika and Quidel. And already the Gods had taken Quidel away from them. Saurugol still grieved for the loss. For himself, for Malika, for Quidel’s son and daughter, and for Havir as a whole. A great warrior had been taken from Havir. But it was a happy occasion too, for he was forever at peace, and watching over them all, from Paradise. Saurugol wondered who the next pair to climb these steps to the sacred cavern would be. Saurugol himself had yet to see it. Though he dreamed to one day.
He couldn’t help when his amber eyes flicked to the light gold she-wolf by his side, watching for an instant as she picked her

The journey back home was taxing. Their route North was steep, what seemed like an endless amount of miles stretched out before them. But as they continued the land grew sharper, the foliage more dense, and, eventually, Havir loomed before them. After weeks of travel, they were home. Faust felt a pang in his chest. He longed to see them all, to tell them of his journey. He wanted to see Silvanus laugh as he relayed to him the story of the pesky dark juvenile, Sava. He wanted to share with Saurugol the curious customs of the Blutwald wolves. He wanted to embrace his mother, assure her that he was ok, better than he had ever been, that only the excursion he had truly found himself.
But those delicate reconciles would have to wait. There was something more important he had to share with his family. He would no longer live a false life. Faust had to be honest with them about his faith. Of this, he was sure

The sun was shining brightly in the sky when Arthur emerged from the nursery, making his golden pelt glow as he stretched out and took a look around the den site. He was a juvenile now and it definitely showed in his long legs and large paws. It was clear he wasn't going to be the "little prince" for much longer, though personally Arthur couldn't wait for the day to come when he would grow to be as large and powerful as his father...
Who, per usual, was nowhere to be found as Arthur began to search the camp. He felt vaguely disappointed, though honestly Arthur was used to his father being too busy for him. His mother seemed to be the same, still grieving for Zevahni and now having that new pup Neo to take care of. So, Arthur was more often than not left to his own devices, and oh, the trouble he could get into... But not today. Today he had someone to seek out; Tilika. She was a friend of the alpha, or at leas

There was a roar overhead and the wolf’s long legs buckled in fear. He sensed movement against his right shoulder and shifted uncomfortably. He was splayed out in the snow, a result of his hip giving out. Ahead of him an unblinking raven sat, too brave or too lazy to scatter from the wolf’s path. Perhaps the creature knew that he was no threat. Perhaps he smelled the promise of decay and was waiting for him to die in order to feed. The sun was setting over the forest, a ball of orange fire licking at the treetops. In the distance, a familiar mountain loomed. The wolf claw at the snow-cloaked ground eagerly, but every small movement shot pain through his legs the streamed up into his chest. He cried out in agony. All around him, odd forms gathered. They were amorphous auras of foreign colors yet familiar scents. He closed his eyes in fear and willed them to leave, but he knew when he opened them again they would still be there, watching him. A faint chill hung in the air late late summer morning. It seemed autumn was already on it's way. But that was normal for Havir, whose snows covered the land more months than it was green. Nadina left her den feeling just as weary as she had some days before, waking up from the night she had made the terrible mistake. Her vision blurred as she walked and her limbs ached from being held so tightly with stress. Since that night Nadina had avoided all other Havirians, including her sister who knew the terrible secret. By Ira's suggestion, Nadina had taken down an elk that night in offering to Ademache that he might lift her potential burden from her. But even before she had done so, Nadina had had her doubts. Her sin had been terrible. Even now she dared not think of it. But that hunt had left her even more exhausted than the previous ordeals of that night, and so many days later she felt the effects in addition to her heavy shame.

Faust’s paws plummeted to the ground as he broke into a swift sprint, dirt and ice being thrown in his wake. He released a menacing growl with each pump of his legs, tossing his head aside in frustration. His mind was reeling, his unsorted thoughts clouding his judgement. How was his brother so blind? How could he make his mother see? How could they not care?!
He would never be satisfied here! Knowing there were wolves out there who were suffering, it was sickening to him! He threw his weight forwarded and slid to a halt on his paws, his body falling and rising with the intensity of his gasps for air. He could not reason with them. He had made up his mind. He was going. Not his brother nor his mother could stop him.
He dreaded when next he would see them. What would his mother think of him? Nothing but a disappointment, a disgrace to Havir! What would Saurugol do? He had grounds now, to expel Faust from Havir for speaking bey

”Tilika.” Saurugol said as he made his way toward the light golden she-wolf. He had been keeping an eye out for her all morning. The times in Havir were getting perilous, with more and more packmates disappearing. All females. He feared for the members of Havir not as well trained in fighting as his Guardians. He knew that the best protection he could offer them was individual training.
And Tilika was far from an average wolf to him. She had immediately caught his attention with her silky golden fur, so unusually soft for this region, and her eyes the color of Ademache’s silver moon. But there were many attractive females in Havir. What made Tilika so uniquely beautiful to him was the wisdom in those stormy eyes. She had a timeless soul, a dignified and delicate carriage, and an elegant strength and self assurance that drew the Alpha toward her. She had offered him her priceless comfort after Zevahni’s death. Straying From Faith: Part II
Night had fallen. Ira was out hunting which left Faust to secure their camp before they settled down to rest for the evening. The first few days had been rough. Their journey was long and tedious. They were tired, their paws ached and the last thing they wanted to do after walking all day was to go out on a hunt, but they had to if they wanted to survive. Was this the existence of a lone wolf? Hunting was certainly easier with a party, though Ira was accustomed to pursuing prey alone in the cover of nightfall. The daylight sun was too harsh on her eyes and skin.
Faust stalked back to camp after making sure their borders were secure. Aside from a curious badger he hadn’t seen anything to concern their resting for the night. He collapsed into a muddled heap in the long grass, his stomach aching but he was too tired to lift his head up. He exhaled and closed his eyes, listening for Ira’s return.

When Sava had been told to go home, she had played the role of obedient daughter, scampering away and trailing behind her brother for a few minutes. He was always quicker than she was and didn't look back, so she let the distance get larger and larger between them until he was nearly out of sight before doubling back and heading towards the borders once more.
With her nose to the air, she searched for the other stranger which her father had left at the border. She found him easily enough for an inexperienced tracker, and bound towards him obviously so that he wouldn't be snuck up on. She didn't want to surprise him.
"Hey!" She called, "I could show you around if you want. Just don't tell my dad." She offered as she approached, tail wagging behind her and face plastered with a smile. "Where are you from? Is it far away? How many days did it take you to get here? Were there any other packs between here and there?" She couldn't
