I've wanted to do a picture based on the scenery from Guilin, China for a long time. This is based off of several photos my dad took while on a trip there. I've never been there though. I'd love to go someday.

The usual, start to finish on Photoshop. I think this took about 20 hours, give or take a little.

Gorgeous, absolutely stunning work of art and heart :XD:

I like the perspective you used, it's so full of life and valor =D There's so much intricate detail you used that I cannot think of saying any less of a description from spectacular =) ~ seriously, considering the time and effort you put into this and just the fact the colors are so on par realistically and of course the movement and unity here, I'm baffled =D

Awesome work =D. The best of luck on future one's too ^__^

Gorgeous as always. The way you manage to make even the most intricately detailed picture look so soft is incredible.

I do have a question, though: I'm curious as to why the end of the banner, in the lower left-hand corner, seems kind of blurry. As the rest of the man, and the upper part of the flag, are somewhat misty but in focus, the blurriness of the lower part draws more attention than it would otherwise. Maybe it's just motion-blur, as one of the above comments says, but it looks...less motion-like than your motion-blurs usually do (if that makes any sense), especially next to an unmoving figure. Is this intentional?

:iconhakubaikou:
hakubaikou Featured By Owner Jun 20, 2007
Thanks. :)

And yeah, it was intentional. Although I suppose I didn't pull it off entirely successfully. Oops.

I wanted the flag to seem like it was flapping in the breeze. And I wanted the rest of the picture to be pretty still. The flag and his hair were the only things that were meant to move around a bit, but not too much. I didn't want this to have too much action in it. So yeah, there's less of a blur on it than usual. Maybe a touch more wouldn't have hurt.

Gorgeous! I love seeing you draw something with a lighter pallet and a daytime setting. It really makes it much easier to see your skill and the detail in your work, which I feel often gets lost in the darker settings and pallets you use.
