Generic face practice pic. Just throwing this up here because I've been asked how I draw without an initial line sketch. I think the only real difference is that details come last, rather than first.

Oh good, I'm glad. :)

Aww. :( Everyone's got things they need to work on. Personally, I hate drawing elbows. :p

It's very cool to see how it evolves and acquires a definitive form. Lovely :)

very cool, I like process shots, helps me better appreciate what I put artists through...

My faces turn out muddy when I do that...

^^; Well, the good thing about art is that there is no correct way. I've tried doing things the way other people do them, and the results have sometimes been really awful.

I can't seem to do faces in color on the computer. I can do them alright irl with oil, but I had to take classes for it, and even then, I'm sure I've forgotten most of what I learned. *sigh* Any helpful hints?

I'm not sure. :( I just push the "paint" around until it looks right. I'll usually start off with exaggerated base colors and then smudge them so that they're more blended and subtle. Sometimes I do it with a low transparency brush too. It depends on my mood.

Is there any way you could simulate oils with whatever program you're using, maybe? Have you ever tried Artrage? It simulates traditional media a bit better than Photoshop or Painter.

What I need to do is get to know painter better. I'll bet I could do some nice realistic stuff in there, if I got the program down.

cool! I need more face practice, I don't draw real people enough.. too lazy D: But I'm good enough at it that I don't suck at it, if I'm only sketching or even using colored pencils. I still can't do it digitally though.
For some reason that person looks exactly like my friend Melody. :D

I totally need to do facial practice. I'm neglecting it far too much - especially on women folk.

May do that tomorrow actually.

Anyway, snazzy stuff, glad you shared it ^_^

Thanks. ^_^ I need to practice drawing guys more often. And I really ought to practice with reference pics too. Been really lazy about that lately.
