JUDGING
Updated as of 24.09.2017
- No/Solid Colors/Patterns BG: 0
- Simple BG (reused,few colors, grass/dirt/sky): 2
- Detailed BG (shaded, 4+ multiple elements and texture): 4
- 0-6 Effort
• Points are halved for failure to use proper equipment, please be sure to pay attention to each horses' equipment notes when drawing a HARD Ghost or another entrant's horse!
• Only 2 points are received for failure to use proper silks, please be sure to pay attention to each horses' barn and see their sheets for correct silks when drawing a HARD Ghost or another entrant's jockey!

- We are now requiring all entries to be at least flat colored or nicely shaded with graphite (if traditional).
- Entries for multiple races must be on a separate image. If the horse enters two races, you need two separate images.
- As these races are spread out over the course of a month, it isn't realistic to see a horse racing 6-7 times a month. We are restricting individual horses to four (4) races per month.
- All Breed Races are now closed to purebred Thoroughbred and Arabian horses. We already have a plethora of available races for those types, and will be reserving the all breed classes for horses of different breeds

Final Score/35
HA-Racing-Database offers a point Handicap to rival horses entered with the main entrant. This increases the chances of your horse winning the race. The 'rival' horse will be judged just as any other horse in the image, and you must specify if you want this handicap on your horse in your registration note. Rival horses must also be registered in the race via note and pictured in the same entry as your main horse to be considered for this handicap.
Point deduction is -6 Handicap.
WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
Updated as of 30.06.2016
Each entry will receive a comment from the judge:
One comment will be your score card, which includes your horses' name, race entered and a breakdown of the points you have earned. This happens before the event closes, and is not your official placing. This just makes it easier for your judges to complete the official placings once the races close! Here is an example of what the comment looks like on an entry:

You are also free to ask us to explain the reasons for our scores, but please specify if you'd rather we answered on notes so no one can see! We're happy to explain so people can grow and improve.

Purse Distribution is out of total purse, and as follows:
Purse breakdown is based off purse distribution before it changed in the 1970s, as the current method is too complicated for simple HARPG use.

CLASSES
The Horse-Art Racing Database offers two types of classes to all participants.
The Racing Database also offers and 'End of Career' storyline option. Drawing or writing horses unable to finish the race (due to falls, injuries, or other circumstances) will result in DNF placing. If the horse is able to cross the finish line he or she will be placed based on their score as normal.
'Active Horse' Shows: Active Classes are open to all horses currently in full show, usually between 2 and 10 years old.
'Retired Horse' Shows: Retired Classes are shows that happened in the past at some point, designed to give broodmares, retrained race horses, and retired studs a career to look back upon while remaining retired. Usually 10+ Years Old.
