Description

Now that the mission parameters have been laid out, how many ways can things go wrong?

Janeway: We have received a request for assistance from a Kobali colony. They are facing food shortages and managed to get a distress call off to us.

Tara: Why us and not their own people?

Janeway: Because their own people aren't equipped to handle the underlying problem

Boruma: Which is?

Janeway: There are two habitable worlds in the system.  The other is occupied by a Kazon colony,

Sharall: Excuse me, but according to your own records, those two groups are hundreds if not thousands of light years apart from each other

Janeway: Yes, well it seems that over the decades the Kazon have improved their ship capabilities

Tara: No doubt using the technology stolen from Voyager

Janeway: Yes...

Lilly: Tactful comma not

Janeway: Your primary mission is to deliver those ten Cargo ships full of foodstuffs to prevent starvation on the colony.

Va’Vel: And the Kazon?

Janeway: Your secondary is to negotiate peace between the two worlds

Heath: And if we can't?

Janeway: You are too do what you can

Amalee: I thought thirteen ships was too much for an escort mission, now I don't know if that will be enough

Melody: They'll see us coming from long off and have time to...

Heath: Actually, they won’t.

Lilly: You maybe not. But unlike you we don't have cloaking devices

Heath: Not yet.

McBrocken: Explain that statement

Heath: Chromia, if you would.

Chromia: Delighted to. While we wait for the cargo to be loaded, my crew will be installing a cloaking device on each of your ships to maximize our element of surprise

Tara: We all get cloaks?

ChiTani: Even me?

Heath: You’re part of the mission. Why would we leave you out?

ChiTani: Thank you, captain. Your trust is appreciated.

Heath: We're all in this together. If we can't trust each other, we're doomed before we start.

Sharall: Agreed. Although I am curious as to why you didn't ask us for the cloaks.

Heath: Call it taking advantage of a preexisting connection.

Sharall: I see... and approve.

Janeway: As part of the agreement any and all information learned during this will be equally shared among all parties. Also, Chi'Tani is permitted to negotiate with any worlds and offer them membership in the Dominion.

ChiTani: Fear not, I will not be talking to the Kazon. Their joining would only serve to weaken the Dominion.

Lilly: I can't tell if you're serious or joking.

ChiTani: The Kobali on the other hand, we could offer them cloning technology. They wouldn't be dependent on randomly finding bodies anymore.

Tara: I can't find a flaw in your argument.

ChiTani: Good

Tara: And that worries me

ChiTani: Good

Lilly: Ah, so she does have a sense of humor

ChiTani: Did you think I didn't?

Melody: Hard to tell

ChiTani: Rest assured.  I am the first of a new line specifically designed by the Founders in their infinite wisdom to interact with our new allies. Unlike previous dealings with the Cardassians and Breen, A sense of humor was deemed essential in dealing with the Federation.

Lilly: Should we be insulted?

Sharall: I think she shows great insight in one so new

Chromia: Indeed.  This one will go far.

ChiTani: Thank you, but I am merely the instrument of the Founders will.

Janeway: If we can get back on topic. What we have is a rough outline of the situation. I'm sure things will be much more fluid when you arrive, but I trust that you will uphold the beliefs of Federation in your actions as you work for a solution. Any questions?

Va’Vel: Yes, why us?

Janeway: Pardon?

Tara: 1, our ships are nowhere near fast enough to get there anytime this century

Alexa: 2, you would be better off sending a full combat unit instead of this collection

Janeway: To answer your second question first, a combat unit would give the wrong impression. Talk first, fight only if necessary. As for the trip duration...

Heath: We have a new experimental trans-temporal drive that should handle that. It got us here from Risa in 37 minutes

Va’Vel: That's not possible

Amalee: It's true. I was along for the ride

Tara: Well, that’s you what about the rest of us?

Heath:  We can adjust the field it generates to accommodate everyone. Preliminary estimates we made based the mass on everyone involved... we’ll make multiple jumps with allowing for cool down time... ten days to get there.

McBrocken: Bloody hell... those maniacs of yours can really pull this off?

Heath: yes they can. Once we get the exact destination, we can start the calculations we'll know the exact details.

Janeway: I'll send you all the details so you can begin planning. We'll talk again before you leave. Good luck

Va’Vel: Well, this will be interesting

Papela: Yes, considering there was so much she was hiding

Heath: Most likely the fact that we weren't their first choice for this. But we’re available...

Boruma: And expendable.

Heath: No one here is expendable. We're all coming back

Tara: You can’t guarantee that if we have to fight

Chromia: If we must fight then it will be a good day to die

Sharell: I believe in making the other person die for their cause

Lilly: I like her version better

Heath: With that settled; they're going to begin loading the cargo drones. everyone have your engineering teams coordinate with Chromia's crew to get the cloaks installed and tested. Lilly, I want our temporal sections to work together on stabilization of the temporal drive field. I want updates from everyone in four hours. Until then... I could use a drink.

Boruma: Don't worry, I brought the kanar.

McBrocken: Oh, I hope you intend to share

Amalee: After this I think we could all use one

Heath: Pour one out for anyone that wants one

Papela: I find kanar a bit on the weak side

Melody: The afterburn is pleasant though

Va’Vel: Nicely acidic

ChiTani: Do all Starfleet captain's drink?

Papela: You show me a captain that doesn't have the occasional drink, and I'll show you one not paying attention to the galaxy around them

Sharell: I believe truer words have never been spoken

Chromia: Indeed

Didnt know the temporal drive can extend around other ships too. Guess that`ll make it eat up a lot of energy.

What does Papela drink if she finds kanar to be weak
