Captain Boruma

Boruma was the half Bajoran/half Cardassian former science officer of the Galor Class ship Valer.
Like all of her crew, Boruma was one of the children conceived and born during the Cardassian occupation of Bajor.
The ship's original captain and first officer considered themselves being punished being saddled with this crew of unwanted half-breeds. However an encounter with the USS Los Lobos changed the lives of everyone one board when it was discovered that Boruma was Heath's cousin.
"You may have Cardassian blood, but you are also of Bajor. And Bajor always welcomes her children home."
This lead to the captain and first officer having an "accident". Boruma took command and had the ship follow the Los Lobos to Deep Space Nine where the entire crew defected. They joined Starfleet and renamed their ship Bajor's Children. Boruma was given command of the Federations new asset
