The Last Dance by GVA The Last Dance by GVA
Thanks to ^kkart & ^2dazed for the DD on this and all your comments and support!! Very much appreciated!!

Turned out to be a good first submission after all :D

Canon EOS 5D | 28-90mm | 180sec | f8 | Cokin A120 | Hoya ND4 | Manfrotto 190XB

Thought this would be a nice one to mark my first submission in 3 months. :)

This place was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We got here just before sunset, parked the campervan beside the water and went for a quick swim. Not a bad spot to spend the night, eh? :)

Was in up to my waist for this one, enjoying the cool water and the absolute silence. I love being able to stand back and enjoy the sunset while the camera does its thing, knowing you're capturing something special at the same time.

Hope you're all well. Slowly catching up on everyone's galleries again. Good to be back. Kinda. :D

The Last Dance by =GVA Such a lovely image! You can almost hear the pristine silence. The sound of Nature winding down. Which is the most wonderful sound, with a view like that. Overall nice shot! ( Featured by 2dazed )

i find it interesting that you've chosen to blur out a background like that and keep the plants in the foreground clear. it seems to show humility despite the grandness of the scene. it's beautiful.

technically though, i've been wondering..
were the plants really still for 180 seconds?
and how did you blur out the background?

Thanks mate! :D Yep, it was a very still night so very little movement in the plants - although you can see a little. The blurred background comes from the wider aperture. I normally shoot landscapes at something like f/22 for the greatest depth of field - but in this case, with it being close to dark and having a big distance between foreground and background it created this nice soft effect.

You can see what a 'normal' aperture would have done here [link]
