Detente

My submission for the WWII contest.

The "Cold War" that should have been Captialism vs Communism never happened. Instad it was both against Fascism. Fascist Europe (as it it now known) and the Allied nations have reached a state of Detente. The German generals decided to assassinate Hitler and were sucessful. The camps came down and Jews, while second class citizens, are still alive. The swastika still became the symbol of evil notoriety. There are rumors of underground groups in both the former Axis and Allies nations trying to bring forth a new Nazi regime and furher. Palestine is still under British colonization and the empire is still (barely) strong. (Technically, the war is still on-going, but nobody is pushing to cotinue it. Korea and Vietnam never were issues due to ideology.)

Thompson is still a top provider of firearms for the American armed forces in the border skirmishes that do flare up from time to time. The "Chicago typwriter" has become the primary long gun. Many revisions came in the form of newer technologies (lighter-weight metals, synthetic grips, polymer stocks, etc.)
