“Thanks,” Foxtrot said as he grinned back at her, taking his sword and knife in hand. “You’re a lifesaver.”      “I know,” Twilight said with a small smirk before the wolf turned and headed outside the Golden Oak Library tree, shutting the door behind him. Twilight chuckled as she shook her head, wondering if Foxtrot would lose his head if it weren't attached. But she also couldn’t believe how perfect it was that he was going to be out of town. She had business in Canterlot and on top of that she enrolled Spike in some extracurricular activities. “Speaking of which,” Twilight muttered to herself, “better make sure he doesn’t forget an...

"Ticket please," The train inspector asked lackadaisically. When no answer came from the individual on the seat, he raised an eyebrow, but then saw the ticket sitting in plain view right beside them. He shrugged to himself as he grabbed it, inspected it, and set back down before continuing his rounds. It wasn't uncommon or most people to fall asleep. At least, this passenger had the foresight to leave their ticket in plain sight so he wouldn't have to disturb them.      Foxtrot sighed a breath of relief as he heard the hoofbeats of the inspector trot away. He sat in the train car by himself, having made sure to drape the black cloak a...

‘All right, an hour and a half, last one.’      Spitfire’s eyes left the clock on the wall and traveled down to the tall glass in front of her. Filled with ice, strawberry bits, red liquid with sugar lining the rim, and a tiny green umbrella, the levitation was one she was quite familiar with. She allowed herself a grin as she leaned down and wrapped her lips around the straw. She winced, a sharp pain from her shoulder a quick reminder of what that filthy changeling had done. She looked down at right foreleg, it was wrapped in a sling and held tight against her chest. It bugged her, but she supposed it could have been worse.      “T...

Foxtrot wasn’t sure what happened.      One second he was sure he was about to meet his end at the fangs of a hundred changelings. Then in the blink of an eye and a blur of bright blue that streaked seemingly in all directions, the entire swarm that had advanced, even those assaulting their comrades, either fell from the sky or collapsed to the where they stood. Upon closer inspection, it appeared that each one of them had been struck by what might as well have been a sledgehammer. None were dead, but they were all in no condition to get back up again, let alone fight.     The wolf glanced about and saw that his comrades were equally ...

Sonic couldn’t be bothered with the explosion as he was currently staring down a scythe-wielding death machine that was the Ravener. His spin dash didn’t work as well as he hoped, and this monster was a lot stronger than it looked. Which, given that it looked like a something out of his worst nightmares, was saying a lot. But he couldn’t give up, not when others were depending on him. So he balled his fists, readied his legs, and prayed that another homing attack or two would suffice.      However, before he could put his plan into motion, the Ravener drew itself up tall and opened all four of its arms wide. Sonic for the life of hi...

The beast drew itself up to its full height pushing with its lower body to raise itself tall. It brought back the right uppermost claw, looking to reap Thunderlane as if he was nothing more than a strand of wheat, the charcoal pegasus unable to move as he could only look upon his impending death with frozen terror.      A strong gale whipped past him, almost knocking him from his feet as salvation came.      Sonic planted his right foot on the oversized changeling beast’s lower body, and quickly ran up his snake like body. When he reached the things chest, kicked off, back flipping and catching it in its bony jaw with bicycle kick. ...

A high pitched ring danced in Twilight’s head.      She blinked hard trying to alieve it, but it was for naught as it refused to dull itself. She shook her head and brought a fore hoof to one of her ears to massage it, but it was to no avail. Her mind tried to figure out why the sound was persisting, and came to the conclusion that she was suffering from a mild case of tinnitus. As she slowly tried to drag herself back to her hooves, she could only guess that it had come from the rapid increase and decrease of air pressure around her, probably from the very concussive blast that had sent her sprawling across the football field.    ...

Thunderlane raised himself on to two legs and lifted the top half of his uniform to expose his waist as he tucked his wings to his side. The Equestrian Games official wrapped the wing band around his torso, affixing it snugly and latching it shut. After a few testing tugs, the pony nodded to his fellow officiates and moved on to Soarin. Another group looked over Prince Blue Blood’s helmet, making sure the magic dampening material was firmly inserted in the portion that would fit over his horn, before handing it over to him to place onto his head.      Once their team had been checked over, Thunderlane began to lead the team in st...

The walk through the tunnel was long.      Twilight had to appreciate what Shining was able to accomplish in the months he had to improve the field they had planned to host the Equestria games in She wasn’t sure how, but now it was massive. She had reviewed the dimensions prior and before, and before it could only house one hundred and fifty four thousand, however, with the addition of an all-encompassing upper deck. Shining had managed to transform the stadium formally known as the Crystal Downs into something truly to gawk at and aptly renamed it ‘The Superdrome’. For now it sported the ability to comfortable seat two hundred a...

“What We simply do not understand, is why stallions are so predictable?  It would seem that without fail no matter the era, upbringing or age of the stallion, they all seem driven to aim for Our cuite mark.”      “Well you know what they say sister, shoot for the moon.”      “Thou doth sound utterly ludicrous, why would they say that?”      “Simple, because even if a stallion were to miss, they’d land amongst that star filled mane of yours,” Celestia chuckled.      “We see that thou wordplay is still as sharp as any sword it would seem,” Luna responded with an annoyed frown as her sister managed to spin the popular phrase around at ...

“And that’s the gist of it Princess,” Sonic concluded as he finished recounting his tale of his failed attempt at disarming the nuclear warhead from within Graywing’s Castle. “So the reason I’m here, is because I need your help. “ The blue hedgehog sighed, it wasn’t an easy thing to ask, at least not for him. “I will do whatever it takes to stop it, but I don’t think I can do it, that Metal and I can do it, on our own. We need your help to stop this weapon, so,” Sonic fidgeted slightly as he realized he was rambling, “Will you help us?”      Celestia had sat and listened to the hedgehog’s tale, not once taking her eyes away from him...

Luna greeted them at the entrance to Canterlot Castle when the group in its entirety managed to gather and approach the pony capitol building. It took a little bit of soothing to calm down the nerves of Twilight Sparkle, for they were a few minutes late and she had already begun to hyperventilate. Luckily, it would seem that Celestia’s prior appointment before their scheduled arrival had managed to spill over its allotted time, this being the case, their tardiness would go unnoticed. Armed guards parted without so much as an errant glance at neither Foxtrot, Sonic, nor Metal as they entered and one could only surmise it was because of...

“The charges you face today are of the most gravest nature; treason, as well as consorting and aiding dark forces that conspire to insight chaos and cause calamity,” the aged, yet powerful voice that belonged to Lord Graywing echoed throughout the great council chamber. “As such, the crime levied against you is treason. You stand before us, Princess Luna, to face judgment for your acts of betrayal against your people, your kingdom and against this esteemed royal council. You are to understand the only acceptable forms of punishment that can set even the scales of betrayal are death or banishment. Have you any words to say on your defense o...

Sonic and Rainbow Dash hurtled through space towards the planet seeking desperately to halt this deadly gambit the Doctor had played. It wasn’t long before they had caught up with Metal Sonic, who had a fist buried deep into one of the warheads, yanking out wires and components before leaping away and watching the large rocket erupt in a small explosion into scrap.“We must hurry,” the robot announced catching sight of the two of them. “If we can get to the missiles before they reach the upper atmosphere, they won’t have reached their terminal Area of Effect. The nuclear payload will be disengaged before it reaches that distance. I calculat...

“Are you kidding me?” Shadow chuckled. “Metal Sonic? This is your ace in the hole? I will give you some credit Sonic, I did not see this one coming! How did you manage to get bucket head over here on your side?”“What can I say Shadow?” Sonic smiled back at him. “He wanted to be on the winning team.”“Wow Sonic, Your definition of winning has changed over the years.” Shadow shot back.“Metal,” Sonic whispered to his newest ally. “You ready?”“Affirmative,” he responded in his cold monotone voice.“You really think this idea will work?” Rainbow Dash questioned.“Negative. It merely presents the best opportunity for success,” Metal answered.“Oh, w...

Shadow landed in front of Sonic and Rainbow Dash, bringing his hands together and outstretching his palms to crack his knuckles. He then began to massage his right shoulder with his left and as he rotated his right arm in circular motion.“I’m going high,” Sonic informed the Rainbow Dash.“Then I’ll hit ‘em low,” she confirmed.“Oh good, you gotta plan, hope it works out for ya,” Shadow said confidently, before his face twisted into a mischievous grin. “Let’s start this party off with a bang!” he yelled out as he gathered energy in his right hand and hurled a supercharged Chaos Spear at the ground between them.  Sonic and Rainbow evacuated th...

Shattered glass, rocks, and debris were scattered about as a sonic boom erupted in the streets of Baltimare as Shadow flew towards Sonic, right hand cocked back, fist balled tightly, as he closed the gap between himself and his adversary in the blink of an eye and yelled as he unloaded his attack. Sonic grinned as he rolled his right shoulder back, letting Shadow’s attack sail past him harmlessly and exposing his entire body for a counter-attack. Sonic fired off a punch of his own, aimed at Shadow’s unprotected jaw. However, Shadow saw his attack, blocked by raising his left elbow and letting the blow strike his forearm instead. Sonic grit...

“I am Princess Celestia,” she announced to the being in front of her. “Ruler of all Equestria. These atrocities you have committed in my lands are unforgivable, and you will face justice for these crimes!”“Oh? What are you gonna do? Beat me up with cupcakes and rainbows?” the monster replied with a grin, casually walking closer. “My name is Shadow, and you haven’t even begun to see the ‘atrocities’ I can commit.”“You will stop!” Celestia shot back at Shadow’s threat of death and destruction. She knew this would not end without violence, but she knew from the reports that he could absorb her magic. Then an idea crossed her mind and she put ...

Rainbow Dash lay on her stomach, her hind legs tucked underneath her and her fore legs crossed in front of her. She and Sonic were in a storage room located on one of the lower decks of the small airship. It was here they had decided to stow the non-functioning Metal and despite his lack of mechanical skill, Sonic had become quite determined to get him operational.“Sonic, would you relax,” the cyan pegasus said as she was beginning to grow tired of his futile attempts to turn on the robot. “The Princess said something about him repairing himself and that he would wake up when he was done.”“Metal can auto-repair while he is awake,” Sonic re...

“Awww…what’s the matter Princess?”The fiery embers reflected in Princess Celestia’s eyes as she gazed upon what was once the bustling city of Baltimare. Fires raged around her as explosions rocked the ground beneath her hooves. One uncomfortably close blast shook a nearby high-rise from its foundations and sent it collapsing to the ground. The equine Sun Goddess strode through the devastation alone, having sent the last of her personal guards to ferry the remaining citizens to safety of Canterlot, now looking to deal directly with the nightmare that had been released upon this kingdom with dignity and determination.“Does it hurt Princess?”...

The journey back to Wyndia was uneventful. The party was able to navigate swiftly and without the caution of ambush now that the enemy troops weren't a factor. It had taken them roughly a week to make it back to the griffon capital. Spitfire stopped them just at the border of the city; they still had to sneak their guests of honor out of the country without being spotted by guards. Trouble with that was they had no way to conceal them, but the Princess had an idea. She had left with Twilight Sparkle ahead of the group to secure a safe transport through the city. The Captain had no idea what she had planned, but since she couldn't think of ...

"Huh…wha, what's going on? Where am I Twilight? Twilight? TWILIGHT!!" Spike woke with a start as his memory flooded back to him. The urgency that he woke with caused him to topple off of Big Macintosh's back and land on the forest floor with a loud thud. "TWI-!" He began to shout once more but a hoof wrapped over his mouth tightly silencing him.              "Quiet!" Spitfire said in a quick hushed voice as she scooped him up and lifted him onto her back. "You'll let the whole forest know we're here!"              "What's going on?" Spike whispered back to her. "Where are the others?" he added as he nervously looked around but all he could...
